Removing skill points, removing the fame system, removing different endings...there's so much I can go on about. It feels like they removed rpg elements to appease to the fps crowd. As long as Bethesda doesn't give obsidian a 18 month time frame to make the next fallout, it'll be amazing.

Agreed. This is a shell of a game. Mediocre at best.

If Obsidian does a Fallout, I hope they do better QC. Never completed NV because of the constant crashing to desktop. Unmodded NV and I keep crashing. I hate NV!

The removal of RPG elements is fact, not opinion.

As I keep saying 800 million in sales and many more to come.. Bethesda hit a home run; I doubt they care about a few people unsatisfied. If a movie makes 800 million at the box office do you think the studio cares about the 5-10% who write negative reviews.
BUT I do hope Obsidian makes another fallout game... Simply because I love Fallout and the more the better

I'm loving Fallout 4. Or am I not allowed to sit at this table?

Let me clarify: I like the game. I have fun with it. But it really doesn't feel like a fallout. I enjoy the world itself, but honestly...I still prefer NV for the rpg aspects. However, fallout 3/4 had the better world. I like the Commonwealth. I hate the new system.

It is also fact that when Obsidian does make a Fallout, there will be people who will prefer FO4.
Happened to NV, happened to every elder scrolls title, gonna happen again.

You sound more concerned about the game having RPG elements than it being a good Fallout game. Which it is by the way.

If Obsidian does make the next one I'll know I can skip out on it; only played NV for 40 hours before being bored enough to give it away for free.

I think NV had the perfect balance of rpg and fps. Granted, mods made it better that fallout 4 included. Sights, better aiming etc. But I was really disappointed with this. I'm not some hating doucher like some of these posts. I really love fallout. This is just coming from a disappointed fan. I've been following the hype since the first announcement of them visiting boston. I'll continue to explore the Commonwealth but I just can't get immersed like 3 or NV did.

I see what you are saying and I feel that as RPGS evolve, they will tend to lose stats and numbers and try to immerse the player into the game more without having to juggle with stats and numbers.
Isn't that ultimately what RPGS are meant to do? To make someone lose himself/herself in the world?
There is this very old RPG I used to play. I wonder if anyone remembered Darklands by Microprose? It was chock full of stats and numbers and i can just as easily say Baldurs Gate 2 is dumbed down compared to Darklands. I'm glad RPGS evolved since then.

I preferred Fallout 3 over New Vegas. So I'm going to have to disagree.

I feel quite differently. I actually might not buy an Obsidian fallout after I was so disappointed by FONV. I felt like one of the old fallout 1-2 guys must feel about the later games.
Personally the perk point system seems so much richer than the skill point system to me.

Yeah, can't wait for a game that freezes on me constantly, pretends to have "choice" only to end with a Powerpoint slide show, and having a boring landscape with characters about as appealing as toilet paper made of sandpaper.
There's a reason I've replayed Fallout 3 far more than FONV and it sure didn't have anything to do with "better by Obsidian".

Not without Chris Avellone on the writing team. As he is gone and they are busy with Pillars of Eternity and other IP's i don't see them doing a large scale game like Fallout again. Personally i do enjoy FO3 abit more than New Vegas, but New Vegas is overall better in most aspects. I just think the atmosphere of the game isn't quite right for the story it wants to tell. The Western setting with the NCR Army which was very USA and then a Roman Army. Caesar's Legion made no sense to me, or to anything. I think the factions so far in FO4 puts both New Vegas and Fallout 3 to shame, so i'll stick by that game now.

Let's hope that Bethesda never lets Obsidian anywhere near the franchise ever again. That would be far better for Fallout than having Obsidian screw it up again.

The only things that made FONV better were the mechanics...iron sights and crafting. Otherwise, I did prefer FO3.

So many beautiful opinions in this thread. Brings a tear to my eye.
But I personally like Fallout 4 despite some flaws. I would most definitely be all for another Fallout game developed by Obsidian.

I much preferred NV to FO3. I wish Bethesda would input reputation building with different factions in both their Fallout and Elder Scrolls universe.
