Who else thinks this man should be involved in all Fallout productions?

If he getsemployed with Bethesda sure. Otherwise I don't see the point.

Yeah it'd be great to have him back with the Obsidian guys, particularly if they get another game, and I'd still be happy if he got a position at Bethesda...as long as they actually listened to him.

Unpopular opinion: No. I find a lot of his stuff, especially Lonesome Road, way too damn pretentious.

Absolutely, but I have no idea what has MCA been doing since he's left Obsidian.

Same here is he the one who came up with Ulyssys?

Yup.

"Blah blah The Bear, blah blah The Bull, blah blah Old World, blah blah hypocrite".

Oh, let's not forget that, at least according to Avellone, the best ending is apparantly the one where the Courier commits double nuclear genocide. SO EDGY!

Sure, as long as he's kept on a leash. I don't agree with his opinion that the entire west coast should be nuked again because "LOL NOT POST-APOCALYPTIC ENOUGH." There's a lot of ways to limit the NCR, and a lot of great potential stories that could be told involving them. Renuking the West would be a waste.

Considering PS:T is one of the greatest RPGs ever made and Dead Money the best thing done on Bethie's crappy engine: Yes.

That said, I'm guessing whatever happened at Obsidian wasn't exactly pretty.

Also, I get kind of bothered by these weird cults of personality that form around single developers. No game is made by a one man-team. Avellone was just one writer on New Vegas, and he wasn't even part of the lead team on the original Fallout.

And yet, like Michael Kirkbride over on the Elder Scrolls forums, some people worship the guy.

I'd agree that no single individual deserves all the praise, nor all the blame. Any project of this magnitude is dependent on a great number of people, it just so happens Avellone was one of the key players in some the most critically acclaimed RPGs ever. Tim Cain and Feargus Urquhart were part of that too, as was the guy who did the Pip Boy/Vault Boy drawings and all the people who created the various throwback branding for all the consumer products you see

Well he *was* the lead on PS:T and if you don't think that deserves the respect he's been given...you've likely not experienced it.

I was devastated when my Planescape: Torment CD2 didn't work. Such a weird game, but so f'ing good

Lead on Kotor II aswell, which i thought was amazing. Unfornately not lead on NWN II or FNV. He is a great lead and writer. I want him on something Star Wars related, but then he would have to work for EA/Bioware, and that is not happening.

Found one at a games expo i was at, it cost more than most new games. Worth it though, original package.

I'd see if it's on Steam but if I go back to Iso I'll be doing it with either Pillars of Eternity or Wasteland 2, directors cut on either

The Sith Lords Restoration mod really only makes me feel worse about how KotOR II didn't get a proper development cycle.

I also thought the New Vegas DLC, which outside of Honest Hearts he was the lead writer on, had some of the best stories told in the Fallout setting. Yes, this includes Lonesome Road. It may be "pretentious", but I thought Lonesome Road was the good sort of pretentious... like BioShock. At least I was entertained by it.

I enjoyed the DLC aswell, i just didn't enjoy the base game that much. Story that is, the gameplay was fun. Kotor II is a masterpiece though, and even better with the restoration mod.

If it were up to him the setting would be nuked all over again... cuz you know... originality.

Even being the lead is not equivalent to doing everything yourself. And it's hardly relevant to his work on the Fallout series, and certainly relevant to whether or not he should be given creative control over the Fallout franchise. Especially since PS:T was 15 years ago.

And wow, be more elitist, will you?

I also have a special place in my heart for that game. Absolutely love Kreia.

Found mine at a used bookstore for $20!

Honestly? Both of those games are good, but you'd be doing yourself a better service in replaying PS:T. Best thing about PoE is, ironically, Avellone's NPC. I just really don't like RTwP games.

He was the lead on New Reno, Broken Hills, worked on special encounters and Vault City in Fallout 2. Hardly NOT relevant to his work on the Fallout series. Not to mention he was lead on Van Buren as well, which in turn means his hands were inherently deep in New Vegas.

I'm not being elite, I'm just better informed than you seem to be.

PS:T you can currently purchase off of a website called GOG.com. it is very similar to Steam and safe. Also, major sale on classic RPG titles on that website. I'm talking games like Torment and BG for $1.99.

Kirkbride has a very creative mind and has lended his creativity well to Morrowind and Oblivion' KotN. However, some of his writings are out there, like space Elves on the moon
