Your Fallout Ranking!

There are basically three types of people who post here: Those who played the original Fallouts first and refuse to admit that anything that isn't a turn-based spreadsheet game is a Fallout game, those who played Fallout 3 first and refuse to admit that anything that isn't a first-person dungeon crawler with guns isn't a Fallout game, and those who like New Vegas the best regardless of when they played it.

For the most part those camps have agreed to stay in their respective sub-forums, and Series Discussion is kind of a neutral zone between the FO1&2 and F:NV camps. Doesn't really surprise me that you're getting a lot of pro-NV responses here. What does surprise me is how many more votes FO2 is getting compared to FO1. I've always considered FO1 the more cohesive and focused of the two games, and it made a much bigger impression on me. Guess FO2 is more popular than I thought.

I should probably revise my list with Tactics above 2. 2 within itself is a good game, but all the pop culture references and the fourth wall breaking got a little tedious for me.

Fallout 1
Fallout 2/Fallout New Vegas
Fallout 4
Fallout 3/Fallout Tactics

Never played PoS or Shelter

I was a kid when I got Fallout 1. Parents wouldn't buy me 2 because it said something about sixually Suggestive Themes. Bought 1 thinking it was Diablo with guns.

Needless to say I died many many many times.

I actually got a good bit of enjoyment from Tactics too. I feel it was a good example of how a Non-RPG Fallout can be a more Fallout Fallout than a RPG Fallout.

Hate making lists.

Fallout New Vegas

Fallout 3

Fallout

I have never played Tactics, got it somewhere though, in my mini-nuke.

Agreed with Fallout 1 and 3.

I ranked 3 on my list as number 2 but it is on par with Fallout 1 for different reasons in my opinion. I will also admit bias being that Fallout 3 did introduce me into the Fallout series. It is also one of the games I have played the most of clocking in over 100+ hours.

Fallout 1 has a great cast of characters, factions, and solid writing. The atmosphere is on par with Fallout 3 along with the soundtrack.

The Pitt and Point Lookout also raises Fallout 3's rating significantly for me. Those were well done.

I need to replay New Vegas since playing the first two titles though. I will have a far better and understanding perspective of it now.

I just can't rank the NV story better than 1 or 2. I like it, but I don't love it. I just don't get involved in the MQ, probably because a lot involving the Legion never got completed. I like getting my revenge on Benny and House, but I have never finished the game. Love those DLC though. Fo 3 story is like tasting vomit in my mouth. I can see why some people may like it as it was the introduction to the series, and I played it a lot, but going back to it now is just impossible. I'd rather replay 1,2 or T.

1) Fallout 1

2) Fallout 4

3) Fallout: New Vegas

4) Fallout 2

5) Fallout 3

6) Fallout Tactics

7) Fallout Shelter

8) Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel

The first is still the best, in my opinion even if it is a very short experience. Fallout 4 is enthralling and I see myself being hooked on it for a long time to come. New Vegas has a ton of outstanding mods (The Someguy Series and Project Nevada in particular) and great DLC, making it a easy third pick.

Fallout 2 at #4 is going to be controversial for some, but while the gameplay itself is fantastic, I never warmed up to the world of Fallout 2. The pop culture references, the loss of the feeling of being in the post apocalypse, and the entire town of New Reno just cause playing it to be a chore for me. But the Restoration Project is was ekes it above Fallout 3 for me, which still has a wonderful wasteland to explore, but a lot of weird temporal shenanigans that make it hard to stay rooted to the "200 years later" and a story that's about as thin as the clothing you'd find at Victoria's Secret. DLC was hit and miss too - the only two that really stood out were The Pitt and Point Lookout.

Fallout Tactics I've never been able to really get into, mostly because the combat in Fallout 1/2 was my least favorite aspect of the game. Fallout Shelter just doesn't have enough to keep a person occupied and Brotherhood of Steel...I remember liking it at the time, but I was so starved for Fallout at that point I think I was willing to take anything.

lol, tell John Bonham i respect his opinion :goodjob: ,

There is a mod apparently being made that allows Fallout 1 to be played in New Vegas, if it actually gets finished then i would play it no problem, a lot of these conversion's and mods never seem to get finished though.

I can't play any game in Isometric view now, i went off it in the 90's, after my last game i played like that, Balder's Gate, i don't like the mode anymore and haven't for a long time, they are no doubt good games, the original's, but not for me as they are.
