Good Video Editing Software?

I was wondering if anyone can point me to some free relatively powerful video editing software. I don't mean free trial, or pirated. I mean legit free software. I like to post videos to my youtube channel and Windows Movie Maker just isn't cutting it. I would like to be able to do what other youtubers do where they have the little ending thing where you can put an annotation leading to the previous video. Like this...

I will also want to be able to add music and narration obviously.

Thank You

Not free, but http://store.steampowered.com/app/330070 is decent and somewhat cheap during Steam sales. Also read a while ago that a new version will probably be released later this year.

As for free ones, there's http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/, I guess? But it's very basic, and probably worse than Windows Movie Maker when it comes to several things and better in some others.

There are also http://heroinewarrior.com/cinelerra.php and http://www.pitivi.org/ which are supposedly quite good (I don't know, haven't tried them) but they are only available for Linux.

I always thought those "hot links" were done in YouTube's own video editor. I've never messed around with that so I don't know :)

I use Movie Maker, like you, and have tried Sony Vegas (ver 9) and Adobe Premiere (ver 8), but both were a bit spendy.

All Free

Best for simplistic tasks: http://www.openshot.org/download/

Best for more advanced tasks while still being user-friendly: http://www.openshot.org/download/

Very powerful, steep learning curve: https://www.blender.org/

Good, but free version limited (can only output 720p IIRC) and a steep learning curve: https://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_lwks&view=download&Itemid=206

I personally have used Shotcut when putting a few videos together (mainly tutorials and web workshops)

Blender can be used for video editing? I thought that was "just" 3D modeling software. Interesting...

Links to previous videos are indeed done in Youtube :) Though its common to put something on-screen in the clickable area.

Yeah, it can do video editing. This was fully done in Blender: https://peach.blender.org/

Thanks! I have had Blender for awhile, trying to learn 3D modeling, but am not an "artist", so I have not messed around with it very much. I'll have to look into this more in depth :)
