If you loved the Manga or Anime then this game is a wet dream.

The animation is spot on mirroring it's source material perfectly.

Not just the characters, not just the Titans, not just the locations... but mirroring even the action perfectly.

The Titan battles in this game are just AMAZING.

If I had to say what is this like...

It's like "Attack On Titan".

They got the combat that spot on.

If you loved the source material you should be impressed.

So happy they got this soooo right.

Judging from a Markiplier animated, it's about some special forces killing giants?

sort of, but not quite...

to sum it up, its a world where a bunch of giant human-like creatures appeared one day (as of yet no one knows where they came from, as its confirmed they don't reproduce) that act more like parasites really since they aren't intelligent and act on pure instinct..

they are near un-killable due to how fast they can regenerate, so the only way to kill them is with a very accurate slice at the back of their necks..

to hide from these creatures man kind hid behind a series of ridiculously high walls (which no one is quite sure where these walls originally came from, but there is a religious cult who thinks the walls themselves are gods), but due to hiding in fear for hundreds upon hundreds of years technology has degraded to a European renaissance level, with the only supplies humanity has are what they can gather within the land inside walls..

one day two "uniquely powered" Titans appear and knockdown the first wall and the Titans start pouring in.. the residents affected flea behind the second interior wall (there being a total of three walls), but with the resulting loss of the agricultural land that existed between the first and second wall meant they didn't have the resources to feed everyone, so the government took all the old and poor and said "screw you, we are kicking you out" sending them to death by forcing them into the now Titan controlled land..

the series then follows a group of Military cadets through their training, and they eventually willingly join a special operations regiment (named The Survey Corps, the only regiment that actually has experience successfully battling the Titans although most of the members seem to have slight underlying mental health issues) thats original reason for establishment is to try and find a way to regain the land the Titans have taken.. slowly throughout the manga, they begin to realize the connection between these monstrous creatures and humanity itself..

I wish I could get into reading manga of the animes I like. It is a little overwhelming (due to sheer volumes of numbers) and I can't read them online, due to my desk/PC is not the most comfy set-up for me :)

Is the original source material an Anime or Manga? Or a video game?

Manga iirc. The video game is just the newest form of it.

a Manga, and a pretty good one actually.. had a widely successful Anime adaptation which covered the first 7 or so volumes (technically the last episode would be placed roughly half way through volume 8).. there have been a few video game releases, and the one the OP is referring to appearss to follow the events of the series pretty closely, but I haven't played it so I can't say for sure

I had to refund it. The game wouldn't even start for me. Looked cool in the videos but I guess I'll never know.

Well clearly there must have been a reason it just "wouldn't start" lol?

Well obviously there's a reason, but I'm not going to go days and figure what the problem is. I don't have the time or patience for that stuff anymore. My drivers and the redistributables were up to date. Thanks to another refunded game which wasn't what was advertised. I'll just stick to that fan made AoT game.

I've seen it on youtube, i don't like AOT but it has some great video game potential. is it as good as the fan game? if it doesn't control the same way i wouldn't bother, the fan game got it perfect

More and more Japanese Titles are coming out with a "Ridiculously Easy" mode nowadays.

I'm sure I'm on at least "Normal" Difficulty and the game certainly isn't automated.

You can pilot your Omnidirectional Gear well... or you can keep smacking into buildings and not building a flow.

Really good fun.
