What Do You Game On?

So, I've recently sold my PS4 and 4K TV to build my "ultimate gaming rig." I found myself a bit underwhelmed with the PS4 and the quality of the titles that has been coming out, and my laptop wasn't cutting it for newer titles, so I decided to take the plunge, as it's something I've been wanting to do for over a decade. So in any case, I'm curious to know what this community games on.

If you're a PC gamer, feel free to list your specs and maybe benchmarks for your favorite games. My specs are: i5 6600k OC'd 4.2 Ghz, RX 480 8GB, 16 GB Gskill RAM @ 3200Mhz, 1 TB WD Black, 250 GB Samsung Evo SSD. Thankfully, I was able to fund all these parts from just the PS4, games, two controllers, and tv, with still room to buy some games off of Steam. The Witcher III runs at about 60 FPS on Ultra same with Fallout 4.

I game on a PC and PS4. Occasionally fire up the Wii to play old school Nintendo stuff.

Crap, I totally forgot to make it where you can pick more than one option. I don't want to upset the votes that are already in, sorry guys.

edit: Poll is changed.

There are only four votes and one of them is yours. I'd change the poll. I'd also add 3DS as an option.

If memory serves, which it doesn't always:

I'm pretty sure you can edit the poll options, and people can change their choice should they wish to.

P.S.

There are only a few votes in, and we can change our choice anyways.

I predominantly game on PC, although I do have a PS4. I would love to have an NES though.

EDIT: also have a PS2 but haven't played on it in quite a while.

I do all of my gaming on PC. I have never owned a console. I have never touched a controller.

To add to the topic at hand...

I mostly play PC, but do have an Xbox 360 and a PS3 that I don't use much. The 360 isn't even plugged in. The PS3 is basically my TV now.

I only use it as a DVD player. I used to use it for Netflix too, but i don't have it now.

I'm only on PC too. Just got a new one in fact, so i'm pretty committed to my platform choice :hehe:
(I7-6700k, GTX1080 8GB, 16GB DDR4 :whistling:)

Oh, and that on 165Hz monitor. The next time someone says you can't see the difference past 30fps, i'll stab him in the eyes since he's obviously not using them :stare: I limited Redout to 30 fps the other day, i got a headache from the stuttering. I have physiologically evolved into a PC elitist :P

I used to do PC and consoles, but it got to the point that the consoles and the stuff I bought for them were piling up and collecting dust, so I cleaned house and now I just do PC (with the occasional Wii session with my kid). I have multiple PCs anyway, and I can play any game I buy on any of them, so it didn't make sense for me to keep buying consoles that I didn't really use except to play an exclusive here or there (which was rare).

It's been proven by countless studies that 30 FPS certainly is NOT the limit the human eye can see. :P I can finally attest to this since my monitor is 60hz, and I can finally play games at 60 FPS -- it is literally night and day. I've heard 144 FPS is a major jump up from 60 FPS, but I couldn't say. Nice rig though. :foodndrink:

It depends if you can get it to run at a stable FPS. If it is stuttering and all over the place than I prefer to play the game at whatever setting that makes it a steady and stable experience even if it is 30fps

I got a PS3, PS4, 360, Wii and Wii U connected to the TV (and a standalone blu-ray player :P). And then I use a PC and 3DS fairly regularly too, although the PC is showing it's age so I tend to play the newest multiplatform games on the PS4 instead while the PC seem to be mostly used for smaller PC exclusive indie games like the somewhat recent http://www.owlboygame.com/ just to mention something. I do intend to get a new PC later this year though, but there's no rush, I can wait until Intel release their 8th Gen i7 this autumn.

As for the framerate, there's a world of difference between 30fps and 60fps, and it's very noticeable if you been playing a 60fps for some time (say Gravity Rush Remastered) and then start to play a 30fps game (like Gravity Rush 2). But I take a stable 30fps over a fluttering 50-60fps any day. But I'm not really one to complain about the framerate, I mean, when I started gaming I was lucky if wireframed 3D games ran at 10fps and I've played plenty of games on a PC below the minimum requirements over the years. So if a modern game dips down to 15fps or less during some intense scene or whatever, I don't really care. In fact, the last time a game stuttered like hell for me I just laughed (a battle in some cave in the PS4 version of Witcher 3 which otherwise ran just fine).

I used to play Mororwind at between 10-40 fps. Now I get angry if Fallout 4 dips below 60. :P

PC.

I gave up on consoles after the Xbox One rollout fiasco. That was basically the final straw for me. Yes, I know they rolled it back, but the fact they thought it was a good idea, plus indications that Sony may or may not be able to pull a similar thing is more than enough for me to swear off on them.

Oh for sure. It happens to me in Fallout 4 when I go into the city. It's really annoying. It's not stuttering or anything, but the frame-rate drop is noticeable.

That was me about 15 years ago. I played that game at a good solid 15-30 FPS with the fog all the way down lol. Good times.

I keep see-sawing between X1 and PC. I'm even torn right now between thinking of buying a new PC and just waiting for Xbox Scorpio. I really like the Xbox platform, I guess.. despite it being weaker. I have a PS4 and PS3 too, but I barely use them (just for exclusives mainly).

edit: I can't believe the OP sold their TV though. You can still have a great PC gaming experience with a TV. Especially 4K. Who wants to sit on their ass all the time anyway?

Oh well :P

XBox ONE mostly since my PC started pulling faces with "Rome: Total War" and pretty much gave up the ghost with "Doom 3".

I have picked up a PS4 which is essentially a JRPG Emulator.

This current gen has been very poor regardless of platform but it's nice to see the PS4 finally getting a couple of good games in "Yakuza 0" and "Nioh". Both of these are excellent.

I game on a PC mainly and my PS4 for exclusives and some other titles.

I prefer certain games on certain systems. So I have both so I can choose.

It was collecting dust actually :P I just use Netflix and Hulu and catch my news through the internet and podcasts, so I just use my laptop for that.
