WARNING: Avoid Patch 1.2!

WARNING

As the thread title suggests, AVOID Patch 1.2 if you haven't already installed it because it makes the game worse.

1UP http://www.1up.com/news/skyrim-patch-12-issues-dragons-flying-backwards this suggestion:

If you haven't already gotten the patch, you can choose to decline it when prompted to download it on 360 or PS3. You'll be able to continue playing the game as it was before, bugs and all (like the texture issue on 360 that 1.2 was set to fix), but you'll be forced to stay off of PSN or Xbox Live as you need to be playing the most recent version of the game to be connected. Should you have already downloaded 1.2, it can be deleted, but you'll then be forced to play the game as it shipped on the disc; you can't opt to download the 1.1 patch.

For those of us that already installed Patch 1.2, we are SOL it seems until a new patch is released (or we can play the game off of disc).

I installed and started the game for the first time with the second patch, I'm 23 hours in and just fought my first dragon outside Whiterun which flew around normally as Dragons do. No lag or game-breaking glitches for me so far...

I downloaded in the first day....i haven't encountered severe framerates problems or misbehaving dragons yet,(Although one of them didn't give me his soul, and the patch said they fixed it). The lack of magic resistance is destroying my mage and there are several major quest glitches which they didn't even seem to care to fix it. Maybe they should hire some of the PC modders...? Or maybe i just should sell the game and get on PC and rely on the people that truly care about the game.

This (the sentence I bolded) is incorrect. For PSN at least. I'm connected all the time when I play and I still haven't allowed the patch to download.

After 32h on skyrim... i saw 1.2 patch avaible to download. Yeah i'll be able to ask the maid to be my wife without the dead corps of the elf making [censored]!... 5minutes laters. The game start to go crazy. Stupid flying dragon that just unable to turn left or right so he run far far away?! I start the quest to be a wolfman... black screen?! I talk to someone... the game freeze and the sound mute... to conclude, i decided to delete the patch and re-install the game on the old patch. TO BAD! My save is no more avaible because 1.2 patch is no more installed... thx Bethesda :(

My copy of the game ===> back the the store to get a full refund. I'm pretty lucky they can't say no because they have no more collector edition so they can't trade it.

So your magic version does not have the resist bug, or you just haven't tested it yet to see.

Summon a flame atronach and see how she likes your fireballs now that her resistance is zero. Then report back.

You know what's funny? Some enemies like mages have the resistance.

Im sorry to say it made things worse for me. I didnt really have a problem before. I have 60 hours into the game and about a 6 MB save file on a 1/3 full 320 gig hardrive. Before I would get just a short pause when loading a new area, now im getting stutters and jitters. I had a small peoblem wih the sound going out for a 1/2 second when on bluetooth sony headphones, now i get complete pauses when the screens are loading or moving to another area like a 2-3 second pause. No dragon problems.I shouldent be worse off than before the patch, I was shocked last night when I got to put in a couple of hours. Now what? The sound issue? Not on any of my other games or online shooters. I was a little bummed when i first loaded the game and I listened to the opening sound loop 3 times and there was a few small breaks.Dam and I bought the hardcover collectors edition prima guide.

The 1.1 patch needs to be put back on the Sony servers today. Not tomorrow, not in a couple of days, not wait for 1.3, not wait until a week after next Thanksgiving but today.

Does that very simple request sound at all unreasonable to anyone?

If you've applied 1.2 and saved it then that save will not work on 1.0. If you, are like the majority of us, and have played from day one using version 1.1 then reverting to 1.0 will also render your 1.1 and 1.2 saves useless.

Putting 1.1 back onto the patch servers will at least allow more people to continue to play their characters than having only 1.0 and 1.2 available to them.

I have started encountering an issue were dragons are not giving me souls. I fought a random encounter dragon yesterday who did not give me a soul and then fought a dragon on Skyborn Altar which also did not give me a soul. Never had this problem before the patch. Hopefully its just a small glitch.

I'd say Bethesda's solution to the ongoing problem was to remove a bunch of spawned items as to reduce the need for RAM usage, also, the sound quality is [censored] now. I can't play the game without hearing a bunch of static.

If you delete the game file itself on the PS3, it will also delete relevant patches. So, you are not SOL, in fact.... Hope this helps, sir.

Any and all 1.1 and 1.2 saves will fail to load on 1.0.

The easiest and most logical step here is to make the 1.1 patch available again on the Sony patch servers. It won't help everyone as many have saved over their formerly 1.1 saves with 1.2 but it will at least help some people who managed to keep multiple saves around.

Deleting the patch data and thus reverting to 1.0 requires you to start a new game.

My version is still showing a bit of lag, but not as much as before. Earlier today I experienced a dragon fight where I hit the dragon once and it started to burn up and give me the soul... and kept fighting me, even though I had barely scratched it. I was actually fighting a dragon skeleton for a while before I realized that it wasn't taking damage. Proceeded to reload the game and try the fight over. Luckily the same dragon fight was available and the dragon had landed right away, because as soon as I hit him, he started to burn up again and give me the soul, while still fighting. But I was able to "kill" the skeleton before he could fly away and be a useless waste of time.

Then started getting the lag again, decided to let the PS3 sit after 4 hours of play and do something else. Came back and got stuck in Markarth because my loading and save screen is crashing my PS3. What the **LL, Bethesda? What did that patch actually do? Three major errors inside of 4 hours? That's unacceptable.

Yeah, I tried a complete clean restart (deleted all saves and game data) and caught that one too. He just smashed in the tower and sat there eyeing us til I hopped out over his wing.

I think the best option at this point, for the purely addicted, is to delete the game and all saves and patches, start over and play for 40 hours.. then delete the game and start over again before you hit the 7mb save file point :P over and over because no one has ever really been beyond that point and been happy (and dont buy an xbox360, mine died 3 times, dying first playing oblivion ironically.. and dont try pc, skyrim doesnt work right with windows xp, have to run in win95 or win98 compatibility mode). Do the main quest, quit... kill the stormcloaks, quit, complete teh theives guild, quit.. etc. Or well, I've actually been tthinking of playing oblivion again..

The man at the top who doesnt play video games said 'release that game on 11/11/11 cuz I need my money by christmas!!' and now he's saying 'patch that game RIGHT NOW and make the bad reviews on amazon stop because I still need MORE money!' and 'GD those playstation magazine UK reviews, why didnt you buy them out! screw their euro!"

Unfortunately you can't patch a rush in a rush, apparently..

But I love this game, really I LOVE this game.. IF IT WOULD JUST WORK! Just tell me it won't work until june 2012 and promise you'll fix it perfectly on that date and I'll be perfectly happy waiting, but TELL ME SOMETHING!

They aren't patching for us, they're patching for the person who is considering buying the game at this moment.

You can always do as I do, unplug the ethernet cable until you start Skyrim, then after the game has started and you're playing. Plug it back up and decline to update, it'll let you on psn and all that good stuff like nothings wrong.

Foolishly made the mistake of downloading the patch though I had no problems before. Now have dragons flying backwards, more lag and magic resistance problems. Hopefully they will make patch 1.1 available to download as I kept a pre-second patch save just incase.
