Which NPC should I use to sacrifice for the Boethia quest?

I need someone who will follow me and is not part of any quests.

Hierlings in Taverns fit well, maybe Housecarls, you can sucrifice quest related followers after completing their quests. You have plenty of options.

I say kill Benor, he is soo STUPID.

I prefer using an orc follower because I don't like orcs (Tolkein and D&D background, you see).
There are 5 orc followers available from the orc strongholds - 3 in Largashbur (Ugor, Ogol, and Lob - c'mon, with names like that, they're beggin' for it), plus Ghorbash in Dushnikh Yal and Borgakh (her name and face both make me think about vomiting) in Mor Khazgur. Only caveat is that you'll have to be blood-kin to get into the stronghold (boils down to a retrieval quest (the Forgemaster's Fingers) for 3 of the strongholds or the Malacath quest if you go to Largashbur (P.S.: you may not be able to get the Forgemaster's Fingers quest if you become blood-kin via the Malacath quest).
I also do the Mephala ebony blade quest, and I try to use my Boethiah sacrifice to count for my ebony blade kill count as well. If you plan on doing both, and you want to minimize unnecessary kills, you might want to hold off on Boethiah's sacrifice until you have the ebony blade (so you can double up (if you care about that)).

Isn't that after the quest? It sounds like you just make the blade stronger by killing people.

I always hire the guy in the tavern in Windhelm. But when we get to the place of sacrifice he always says, "You've been a good friend to me". I don't know if that's programmed into the game but I've used him three times for the quest and every time he's said that.

Orcs in tolkein lore are essentially holocaust victims. So...you hate them for being forced into servitude to someone who promises to give them their land back?

Orcs in TES lore have a similar fate.

OMG. Don't be so melodramatic. Orcs were the bad guys in Tolkein and they were chaotic evil (usually) in D&D.

Thanks

Yes. Once the quest is over, you'll still have a description in the quest log saying something to the effect that blade has yet to be returned to its full power. As you kill friendlies (I think for every two you kill), you'll hear a disembodied voice encouraging you to continue strengthening the blade. After 10 friendly kills (I don't recall what specific voice message you get, but...) the old quest entry for Mephala will be changed to something reflecting the fact that the blade is now returned to its full glory.

The best idea for this came from somebody else on the forums; wish I could remember who it was so I could give them credit.

Anyway, do The Taste of Death and get the ring so you have Eola as a follower, then march her right up to the sacrificial pole.
I think the other forum member called it poetic justice.

Don't kill j'zargo. Hes one of the best followers in the game, especially if hes been wabbajacked.

It's an excellent opportunity to get rid of Lydia (or any other bedroom stalking housecarl).

I also used it to get rid of a housecarl. Lydia was always the most annoying with her smarmy "I am sworn.." nonsense, so it has been her in 2 games. I wish there was a way to get Iona out of Honeyside. Something where she goes off to have fun adventures, or happily married, or something, since I won't just kill her.

Actually, I need her out of the house so she doesn't witness any of my activities. Her idea of 'dinner and a show' is to grab a piece of bread and sit in the bedroom chair.

Faendal had exceeded his usefulness by the time I reached that quest, so I met him in Riverwood and asked him to take a stroll with me...

Thanks. :) I'm gonna use this idea, along with killing her with the blade from Mephala. I felt bad for killing that monk, but I wanna get every single daedric artifact.
