This is just to let you guys know that I've started the refactoring and such necessary to make Wrye Bash support Skyrim. Initially my goals are:
- Load Order management.
- BAIN - although, technically if we're going with the acronym correctly it would be SMAIN - SMAsh INstallers, or SAIN - SAsh INstallers, etc.
- Basic mod information extraction - hopefully not too many changes in the ESP/ESM format have happened, and we'll be able to do simple stuff right off the bat (author, description, etc)
- An official name - Smash is just a tentative name, going along the lines of taking pieces of mods and Mashing, Bashing, or Smashing them together. Other options would be Skash, Sash, etc. We'll settle on an official name when it's finally going to go beta.
- Launchers - SKSE, BOSS for Skyrim, etc
Long term goals:
- Decode any new record types, and changes in known record types
- Get Bashed Patch (Smashed Patch?) generation going
- Get some ESS decoding going if necessary, for saved game management.
Some things other thoughts:
- Replacers: will ArchiveInvalidatedInvalidated! work, or has Bethesda fixed the engine bug that forced us to use that method? Or will replacers "Just Work" by plopping them in the Data folder? Maybe there will be a slightly different method altogether? In any case, we'll play it safe and just drop the files into the Data folder to being with, until we figure it out.
- Hmmmm.
And for those that are wondering, this isn't going to be a fork of Wrye Bash, it'll be the same program that just acts differently based on which game it detects it's setup for. This way new features will get shared back and forth between Bash and Smash. I'm expecting to get a very simple working model in about 2 weeks (mods tab, INI Edits Tab, thats it).

)
- Well I doubt it from the UI conversations that went previously, nearly a clean slate to start with so the feedback in the latter half of this year plus all the recent improvements which made Wrye Bash 295 really good, along with Myk's BAIT and a new base for CBash ... Good luck guys, but dont burn the candle at both ends
