As far as I can tell all of the elevators OUT of blackreach are on the OTHER side of the elevator shafts. I don't see any buttons to call the elevator down.

Suggestions?

The stick in the middle of the elevator shaft will "call" the elevator. If you can't get into the shaft, you have to open it via a switch on the wall outside the shaft. These are all accessible from inside Blackreach.

In fact, the only way to open the elevators at all is from within Blackreach.

I found at least 3 elevators - different buildings - and they were at the bottom.

Take them up, unlock the door so you can re-enter Blackreach when you want, and go back down.

I've not seen them at the top, waiting to be called down.

Are you looking at the right thing? Should be an opening in the building, with a small-ish shaft sticking up in the center of the opening. Blackreach is large, use the map to look for the elevators, I think they show on the inside map you have to bring up.

So I go into Alftand Cathedral, from Blackreach. After it loads, i'm in an elevator shaft. I look up, i can see the raised platform up above me. There are no buttons, levers or anything I can interact with, in these elevator shafts.

Same when try the other Skyrim exits from blackreach.

(shrug) Guess I'll look around outside the Cathedral door for something to call the elevator down.

Your in blackreach on a quest?

if so, theres only one way out,it should be in your journal and map marked as "............ tower" complete the quest first.

i went to blackreach months back for some quest... finished it.

now i went back to do the collect-10-gazillion-crimson-nimroot thing. and now i can't seem to get back out. :/

ah figured it out - the skyrim eexits (where you pull the lever ) plop me in the mountains with a locked gate - didn't see no way to open it previously, so gave up on it. turns out there's a thingie to open that gate in the mountains.
