Xbox 350 freeze screen

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 1:30 pm

I am playing Skyrim on Xbox and am starting to get a freeze screen lock up. I have to turn off the Xbox and let Skyrim load again before I can continue to play.
The weird thing I have been playing the game for about a week and this just started happening yesterday only. I am at level 20.

Could I have a bad disk or is it just a bug in the game?

Also have 360, and suffer from that same problem sometimes, I don't know what's up.

Xbox is having trouble running the game, and it crashes.

It hasn't happened for me (360 also), and I've racked up about 90 hours. Do you play for really really long periods of time all in one go? I remember it freezing a lot in New Vegas when I played for too long. Maybe it's something like that?

The real problem is... you have a xbox 350. You probably want the 360

Clear your cache. It will most likely fix your problem.

I never had any problems like that on my xbox

How do you clear the cache on a Xbox?

Go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings.
Select Memory.
Highlight Hard Drive, and then press Y on your controller.
Select Clear System Cache.
When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select Yes

You will have to re-download any patches for games through xbox live again.

I'm on level 15 and I have the same problem, I've been playing more hours than usual though about 3 hours at a time.
Also noticed when I restart the xbox and load up my save the frame rate has dropped.

Been having a similar problem myself. Game crashes (usually on a loading screen) and I have to reset the whole console. Hope the patch fixes this and the texture issue.

Happens to me also, but usually happens when i'm pissing about doing stuff I shouldn't
Like seeing how long I can last killing non-killable NPC's over and over again until they catch me off guard, and other lol inducing mayhem.

I had this happen to me repeatedly when doing the quest in the Dwemer ruins in Markarth. I found switching off all autosaves, especially, the transition screen one, fixed the issue.

I have the same problem sometimes - more scarcely after clearing the cache, but when I'm getting myself in some graphical mayhem - like fighting an extremely angry Dragon Priest, or just a dragon, it freezes the same way.
I got a tip in another thread to uninstall Skyrim, clear the HDD cache and reinstall it with the new patch... I'll try that when I feel it's necessary.

I also save every time I'm engaging myself into something big, and also directly after - bummer losing progress once having completed an important fight or quest..
When I see fit, I also save my game in the dungeon, just to avoid stupid mistakes :D

I only ever have problems with Elder Scrolls games in my X-Box (not major)

Now with Skyrim, it happened twice in one week (two days in a row) and then nothing until yesterday when it done it again.

Now when I checked my X-Box to check if it was overheating, it was barely lukewarm.

Now my friend also has Skyrim for his PS3 and he too has said it's frozen on him a few times.
Both of us have had to reset the console each time.

Mine occasionally freezes on the loading screen - but after I leave it be for a few moments, it fixes itself - maybe a problem with overheating? Tends to only do it after a few hours of play.

Always be sure the console is not close to any heat source, like your TV for example - and never have the console closed in a locker or something.. give it loads of air. My Xbox is standing behind my TV, standing on top of my receiver, but none of the components radiate enough heat to affect the system. My TV gets hot, yeah.. it's a 50" Plasma, so it radiates a lot og heat, but not from the rear - in the distance it's standing. I burnt down a PC motherboard, with water-cooling, by standing in a closed locker - my bad.........
