Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 11:52 pm

Hello.

So im just riding around in skyrim on my horse then i run into a bandit camp they start attacking my horse while im on it i get off to fight them i kill two...turn around to see my horse trying to kill 3 bandits im like oh crap i run over to save him my horse dies on our first trip what i waist of 1000$.

I try and ride my horse more then fast travel in skyrim (it makes it fell more realistic) but when im riding them every 2 mins i need to get off and kill 4 wolfs or get sneak attacked by a saber cat and my horse dies.

Or my horse trys to kill 10 bandits and gets murderd (1000$ doolers down the toilet) i wish this dident happen so i dident have to keep waisting 1000$ dollars..

I found my first and last horse for free.
It almost died several times because of minor enemies like wolfs and then it actually died because I jumped down a rock with it.
I never bought one after that.

I liked the horses in Oblivion. Control wise too. In Skyrim, they do feel clunker. So I just walk, which isn't a bad thing.

I actually like riding horses in Skyrim much better than in Oblivion. The only problem I have with horses is having to get off them every time I need to fight. After awhile that gets to be an annoyance. But, aside from that, I love it.

If you don't want to fight, sprinting will outrun just about any enemy.

i like horses in skyrim. i find the controls to be smooth. what does irritate me is the combat (like OP said). horses should not be so aggressive. unless i'm mistaken, it takes a lot of training for horses to be responsive in combat situations (or police horses in a riot situation). the only exception i can make is shadowmere as she's supernatural. even then it's still pretty ridiculous.

the bigger complaint, is mounting/dismounting. it's....so....painfully.....slow. this makes me just want to fast travel or walk instead. at the minimum (and i'd be pretty happy with this minimum) i would like a fast dismount system similar to jumping out of moving cars in GTA.

I prefer Skyrim controls. Much more fluif compared to the castrating A and D turning controlls from Oblivion.

As one guy said above a horse can run fast. If you ran into this in real life would you not just run till you could park your hore safely then go back and kill.

That's how I used em' ... when I did use em', a long time ago.

I bet if they put horses in 1st person it would actually be easier to control them.

although, the horse system fails compared to other games, i now use them regularly, instead, of followers.

i like traveling across skyrim and the horses and when handled correctly, can easily speed past enemies until you get to a safe distance. then, get off and go fight without the horse jumping into the fray.

as well, they are more realistic packrats than followers.

btw, the horses in 2worlds1 were done very well.

I find horses quite useful for six as well as power-leveling on master mode lol, maybe you should give riding horses another chance

I use beast form for travel quite often. It is faster than anything else and he can take care of himself. I don't use him for real battle, he is too weak.
