Zidane Tribal's PS3 lag video

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 2:24 pm

Since the original thread got locked because of rampant trolling, it would be a shame for Zidane's extremely informative video to be lost to the abyss.

http://youtu.be/cUoDfO1pWto

The video showcases the issue many PS3 gamers are facing with their copies of Skyrim. It's well put together, and worth watching and sharing.

...Please just give us proof this specific issue is being worked on and i'll happily go away. if it were banter of those who are angry why would i be here?

I'm not here because it's an issue i've experienced, i'm here because it's one i've experienced with fallout 3 and new vegas so have little trouble believing it's back,
especially with video evidence.

I'm only angry because those who don't seem to have experienced the issue are determined to derail the threads of those who have.

The video is to inform the PlayStation 3 users what they're in for if they keep playing. I posted the video in the Hardware and Software Issues Subforums so when others visit, they can see it and know it's not just their game. You make it sound like I'm getting my kicks from "causing problems". I'd much rather be playing the game right now then having to deal with these issues.

If a thread gets locked by a moderator, do NOT re-post the thread. It's in the forum rules. You can write to the moderator to discuss the lock and see about getting permission to repost.

Okay. After speaking with several of you, I am going to re-open this thread. Here are some ground rules - for those with problems and without problems.

  • Keep it civil and to the point of discussing the issues you are experiencing, or the video itself
  • If you are not having these issues- don't bother to post. It's great if your game is running fine. A lot of people experiencing problems don't give a damn about your game. Got it?
  • Snotty comments about the actual real people behind this game are considered flaming. Be mature and try not to forget that in spite of what you might think, devs do read these forums. Try to think that one of them might be you some day, or your sister or husband or wife or something and how would you feel if people were posting nasty threats
  • I will be checking this thread periodically through out the day - if a troll comes in, just report it and IGNORE his post. Don't quote it, don't answer it - it makes work for moderators and we don't have time right now.
  • Lastly, if you find yourself getting so irritated or worked up as to be typing out some ill-advised rant, take a deep breath, go eat some turkey if you are celebrating Thanksgiving and let the tryptophan take the edge off.

Here's another video, since I don't want to make a topic about it:

I think he hit the nail on it.

That video really scares meO_o
My game has some slight lag and froze once, but it's really nothing compared to Zidane's video. Are there many people with this kind of lag? Or is it the absolute worst-case scenario and doesn't happen too often?

It seems to be alot of people that experience it the longer you play the game and the bigger the save gets (which may or may not be involved). I hope your game doesn't end up like many of ours has though.

It steadily gets worse the more you play. Most people tend to have their game go this bad at around 70 hours of playtime.

I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the moderator(s) that brought back this thread. Many of us understand your duties/jobs, and a few bad eggs
have made it difficult for some of our legitimate complaints to be swept under the rug via locking. Zidane has worked very hard to shed awareness and bring
video proof of these technical difficulties (which are exact to many of our concerns).

The reason this is so important to us is because it is complete proof of our problems and concerns. We post it because we want answers and we need
help. We come to ask this from you (the moderators), from the community, and maybe even from Bethesda or affiliates.

I hope this explains the situation from our end more clearly, and hopefully we can gauge ourselves to communicate better in the future.
Thanks again for opening the thread. I hope this post counts as relevant.

-Cheers-

Thanks to Leydenne, for responding to my message and especially re-opening this thread.

Not sure i can add anything to the discussion, my issues are just the old New Vegas-like followers bug, battle for Whiterun crash, and such things.
With New Vegas we got the companion terminal, so i'm going to search for the equivalent so i can solve the balancer balancing for a person who i guess i sent to join the Blades.

That's about it from me, i'll be quiet til i see something i can help with.

To LadyAnika, about that right hand weapon issue you mentioned in one of the locked threads, does a two-handed weapon or shield bash work? if not probably it's the controller, my right anolog stick decided to fail during New Vegas.
Dismantled it, cleaned the gunk from around that area, seems to fix with anolog sticks... also replaced the spring on the R2 button, so that no longer activates every time i put the controller down.

As far as the Threats bit... I'd guess an auto-correct fail, Threads was meant? it'd be more strongly worded if otherwise i think.

Ah I haven't tried a two handed weapon yet, I might try that later on today sometime though to figured out for sure if it's my controller, it is getting a bit old and my dad has a nasty happy of chucking the thing about in anger when he gets his butt kicked or something *sigh* I really don't wan to have to buy another one, those things are damned expensive lol. Thank you for answering me though :)

Edit: oh and yeah that makes more sense actually Threads instead of Threats lol

Threats? I'm confused who was threatening who? did I completely miss something here?

Also thats a good question and I would love an answer to it, why don't the devs answer or questions, or at least try to.

I would assume that Bethesda wants to have pretty tight control over what is "officially" posted. It's very likely that there's a gag order on all but a handful of PR people to avoid any kind of "confusion" in the community.

I'm not saying that's right or that I agree with it, but that's likely what's going on. I highly doubt the developers don't want to address problems people are having.

As to Zidane's video, that's exactly what FONV degraded into for me. Completely unplayable. It's why I didn't buy Skyrim at release and why I won't buy it until a patch is vetted by the community.

My comments/instructions were not singling out a particular person, post or thread. Just some general guidelines - some of the threads and posts in this forum have crossed a line and I don't want to see that in this thread. In the future, if you have a question about something I have posted when in moderator mode, kindly PM me rather than post off topic in the thread. Thanks.

As for getting devs to respond, moderators are members here, not employees of Bethesda Game Studios. Unfortunately we do not have inside info. We do try to bring things to the attention of whomever by noting things in the admin forum, but we do not have any special access or info, sorry.

Soooo. back to topic please.

I just want to give a HUGE thank you to those who support the video and helped lift its ban.

For anyone actually reading this, please read through the original topic up to page 5.

I think it important to have this thread active, as players can now evaluate what is meant with the 'lag' problem and what the impact can be on long term play.

Besides, its off topic but...zidane, your voice is really awesome,it sounds really special, i felt like being in a movie or official trailer.

that vid is a great example of the issue, should be kept on the front page at all times until the game is patched and fixed
