Can we please get a fix for the "LEVEL UP" glitch me

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 9:22 pm

It's been over 2 months now, i've reported this emediately on the forums here and exhausted everything trying to find a solution and trying different modifications to try and get rid of it.

The problem with it is that it is horribly placed, blacking subtitles and covering up information pertaining to items and weapons and enchants... it's like having a giant black spot on your tv or monitor.

I've tollerated it for this long, why would it be difficult to remove?

The only times i can remove it is when i disable the gui/hud/menu display by the console command "TM".

It doesn't appear to have any practical purpose.

If you don't know what i'm talking about... feel free to view this video

Please can we get this fixed... it shouldn't take long at all. It seems to be specifically related to very HIGH resolutions with the height resolution well above 1600.

^^ You should also mention this is pretty much only something that shows up in very 'tall' resolutions like the one you're running, and yah its a bizzare one for sure that affects me as well when I'm running with triple portrait instead of landscape. You active at the wide screen gaming forum? I haven't checked in on the skyrim thread there in a while (pretty much that's where to get the sweet UI fix that HaYDeN provides so I go there whenever Skyrim updates), any ways someone in that thread may have found a work-around since the site is devoted to 'extreme displays' like our own ;)

Already a mod to fix it. It was made couple of days after the release.
and don't wait for bethesda to fix anything on their own..

actually i posted a thread there first and got little to no responce at all... not even a "i'll check into that" by some of the most common goers.

Like i mentioned at the bottom of the post.... doesn't appear to effect anyone unless they exceed a height resolution of 1600.. (for example if your using a set of 1680x1050 monitors in portrait eyefinity... the issue crops up.. but using eyefinity with 1400x900 monitors.... no problemo)

I hate search engines and website search system that don't work at all well.. i don't know how often every week i've been punching in the "LEVEL UP" text/gui/hud/etc in any combination with ZERO results

I see how this fix "fixes" it which isn't exactly ideal.... surely gamesas can implement a more reasonable/patch that shouldn't take more than a few seconds to do.

Sure they could but that problem is only seen for minority of pc users.. I can't even find it on the unofficial buglist.

Edit: yay something similar: * Sometimes interface text (on-screen messages) get "stuck" on and never fade - they can be replace by other messages (eg when you cursor over a door)

You may want to approach HaYDeN himself and see if he can find the chunk of the UI that's putting it there and do something about it.

I imagine they're probably trying to fix bugs that affect larger groups of players first. There don't seem to be many people that play at that large of a resolution, most seem to hover around 720p or 1080p. Simply a matter of triage: functionality bugs that affect large groups of people need to have priority over cosmetic bugs that affect small groups of people.

i may have to jump back over there and see if he had ever replied to my pm... i'd assume that he may have never received mine due to being swarmed with pms likely..

either way....

Yes i know something causing massive CTDs or whatever is a higher priority ... however this isn't going to effect someone that has to just change a few things and it's extremely easy fix provided with source/direct developer tools to do it.

It's not like it's going to take as much effort..... they know exactly what it is.. where it is.. and how to remove it.

The problem will persist when the 2160p formats start becoming more mainstream which shouldn't be to long.. 2160p or quad HD display have been available for nearly 2 years to consumers...... another year and we'll see the exact same thing happen that we saw with 1080p tvs .... HUGE and MASSIVE amounts of them suddenly being purchased and used... widespread usage.

Well personally i'd prefer to fix the one without effecting the other "level up" text information.... i mean sure it's no big deal.... go into the tab menu and select level up even if i can't see it.. it's just absurd that this problem even exists.

Consoles. Take unsynchronized physics... I heard it before, in 1999.
