I'm only part way through the main quest however I've learned the first Ethereal shout word. I've absorbed several dragon souls since then but the game keeps saying I still need a dragon soul to unlock the shout. Am I missing something?

Dragon souls, noob confused question

To unlock a shout do not click on the name just hover your cursor over it to highlight it and (for pc version) press R to use a dragon soul. Took me like 15 minutes to figure that out the first day I got it lol.

highlight the shout you want to unlock, look down on the lower left portion of your screen, it will say press "button" to unlock. Unlock shout, enjoy.
