Glowing Eyes BUG!

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 8:02 pm

Thank god I read this, never gonna use that shout now.

I'm sad to inform you that the shout isn't the only trigger to this bug/feature.

Temp solution: keep making new saves every now and then...

Negative, this is a temporary bandaid ONLY for those who play in third person, when they go back into first it comes back. Also a few other things trigger it to return even if you don't go back into first person. Also It isn't even a fix for those of us who play soley in first.

Actually I have about 1000 saves and if it counted my quicksaves I would have at least 5000 saves. I save enough. The problem is that I am unwilling to lose an hours worth of game play because bethesda didn't test their game fully.

Btw, I'm glad to inform that I've overcome the Glowing Eyes problem out of thin air, the only procedure I can think of that might have cleared this bug was trying the performance mod (from the skyrim nexus) which one of the features was to use another "d3d9.dll" file present on the mod, which made me re-input graphic options on the launcher, and removing the mod once more, placing back the previous d3d9.dll file I had stored as backup and re-doing the specs.

Dunno if this is just coincidence or pure luck, but I felt I had to share this.

cheers

Yeah I don't know what the [censored] happened but suddenly I don't have this glitch anymore. I honestly can't think of any reason why it stopped, I haven't downloaded any mods or anything.
All I know is that I was at a certain point in the main storyline,
Spoiler
I just used the first elder scroll to look back in time
and I was wandering around and noticed the glitch wasn't there.

What ever, even my eyes stop glowing, my head still missing.
But it's not the first time i hear something about the main quest to fix this bug.

Deserve to try.

Hmm. I don't see a d3d9.dll file arround. I think I had to insert one for the FPS limiter or something, though but I don't have that anymore because I removed it.
Care to send me yours? Just a complete shot in the dark :/

I have this problem as well. I picked it up a long time ago and foolishly thought it was temporary like the Ice Spikes bug. Unfortunately it's not and I stand to lose approximately 20 hours of gameplay to revert to a save without this bug.

Worth noting that 'Become Ethereal' caused this 10 times in a row in Whiterun on an older save that didn't have the bug.

Have tried every apparent fix going and nothing is working.

I also have this bug, Problem with going back to a 1 or 2 hour old save, is i don't remember exactly what i've done in that 2 hours.
So i may miss stuff that i did before in the bugged save that i haven't done yet in the older save.
Furthermore i uncovered a lot of map markers in that 2 hours,

And worse, there's nothing to stop this from happening again, this is like the 5th time now.
If anyone knows a way to increase the autosave count to like 10 or so, it would be a bit easier, since autosaves happen every few minutes, at worse i'd lose 20 minutes. not 3-4 hours.

For those of you that have this:

DON'T GO NEAR WHERE THERE MIGHT BE SPRIGGANS

This happened to me as an extension of this bug.

http://i.imgur.com/XtSo8.jpg

It is literally the most annoying thing in this game. I can handle crashing every 30 mins, but I CAN NOT handle this [censored] in my face 24/7. Not gonna start a new character since it would just happen again and, hell, I'm 200 hours into this one.

God dammit Bethesda, how can you ignore this? Took you ages to patch, but the patched fixed nothing.
Are there no Bethesda staff on this forum that can respond? There are A LOT of people with this glitch and it totally ruins the experience of this game.

FIX THIS!

To fix it

press ~ to open console

type

sixchange
press enter

then type sixchange
press enter again to turn back into your original six

toggling sixchange back and forth back to original will force the avatar to redraw and eliminate character bugs

I was suffering from this bug, but it was fixed after

(spoilering just in case, even though this is silly isn't it?)

Spoiler
I read the Elder Scroll as part of http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Alduin%27s_Bane.
I went into third person a while after the quest and saw that, suddenly, my glowing eyes were gone - I'd had them for about 12 or so hours until that point.

I hope this is of help somehow (could be reproduced using console?) and works for you guys, too.
