Freezing - Black Screen - Autosave Corrupt - The Strip

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:01 am

I cannot enter The Strip anymore. The game freezes, gives a black screen, and corrupts the autosave. I installed the game to my hard drive, but it has not resolved the issue.

I have the same issue, man. Bugthesda released a broken mess that they obviously did barely any Quality Assurance on.

On the plus side, the disc can now be used as a coaster (it actually works in that capacity).

I did a massive amount of testing today, posted results here http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1123619-gomorrah-exit-crash/
keep those hats people & spread the word, least till it gets fixed.

My advice? Turn off auto-save. Seriously, you don't need it. Just remember to save every half hour or so (maybe even every 15 minutes in a dungeon).

The first thing I did when FONV was loaded on my 360 was to go into the options and turn off auto-save completely. It still auto-saves at some key points, but very rarely. I'm about 32 hours in and I've yet to experience any of these issues.

Yes, yes, yes,,,
Turn OFF AUTO SAVE--all 3 of them...the game has a memory leak, please clear the cache every so often like 5 or 6 hours...I cannot believe the world of difference it made in loading times, solved the freezing issues etc...
This is a post from somebody who is close to finishing the game, no game breakers whatsover...

I also have this problem of my console just going to a black screen upon entering the Strip. I saw on another forum that someone related the problem down to the killing of Caleb McGafferty and taking his hat on the strip. Ironically, mine won't let me re-enter the Strip right after I finished that quest so something is up with that character. I hope they can patch this because I really don't want to restart and be paranoid of what quests I can and cannot do.

Turning off auto-save sounds like a reasonable suggestion. Many thanks.
