When you get the xander root @ the schoolhouse for the crafting quest, make sure to pick only ONE - i picked 2 and after i made the powder she got stuck in the loop and was programmed to constantly talk to me but all she says is regular flavor text. I had to reload a save but something was clearly wrong with that.

I'm having the same issue, and I'm not trying to make more than one healing powder. Tried reloading the save right out of the doc's house, and re-initiating the quest. Same problem happens when I try to terminate the tutorial quest at any of the earlier points. Can't get Judy to show up and initiate the Ringo quest. Sunny Smiles will auto-initiate regular conversation with me, but it never finishes out the quest chain in Pipboy. Not really inclined to sit through character creation again right now. :\
