The first thing you did in-game

Other than take in the sights and wander around Goodsprings, I went southish to the NCR Correctional Facility without helping Sunny with the Powder Gangers and upon realizing it was a stronghold for them, I saved my game and unloaded on about half of them for kicks. managed pretty nicely. :)

what about you guys?

Almost the same thing.

I did help out against the powder gang first though, and had to go to the prison to get the new sheriff. Seeing that prison was my first "wow, wooohoo" moment in the game. That place is awesome.
This is shaping up to be a much more "true" FO experience than FO3 was, and reminds me a LOT more of Roland and the Dark Tower than FO3 did.

On a side note, the 3 buildings inside the courtyard of the prison totally wtfpwned me, with bodyguards with crazy [censored] weapons. I like the fact that it's a high level place i have to come back to at a later time.
*makes a note*

Killed Victor with a straight razor on Very Hard hardcoe mode. Apparently turning is not a robot's strong suit. Then I shed a tear because I knew that as with all games Bethesda related, it would be stupidly easy. And it is.

Once I got my bearings in Goodsprings I shot some guy tending his garden (after a save) and got my self vilified by them. then I started to play for 'real.'

I pretty much played it "by the book". Kill Geckos and Powder Gangers.
