Level Cap

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:11 am

Okay, so as many fans will agree, the level cap was annoying, I personnaly belive it should be like Oblivion where you level up until all levels are complete. So who agrees, who hates, and who is confused about what I just said?

A poll would've been nice... But I say yes. A level cap should be initiated. Don't want to get to high and end up way to strong for the game during the DLC.

It's a good idea if they make it harder to LV up.

The levelcap is not the problem. It's the pace in which you reach it.

Personally I want there to be a cap that prevents me from building a godcharacter, or a system that prevents me from reaching that godstatus without heavy(!) grinding.

There already are threads for this. And a 30 or 40, well balanced level mechanic would be nice. Endless leveling? Better not.

I dont mind a level cap as long as it is quite hight 40 or more(maybe 30 if hard to gain XP)

and make it so perks come every 3rd levelup and perhaps make starting skills lower and give less skill points on level up to about 8(intelligence at 10 =15)

No, not an never-ending level Cap, but the kind like, Vanilla game - Level 50 cap - DLC 1 & 2 - No Change - DLC 3 - LVL 70 CAP - DLC 4 - NO CHANGE - DLC 5 - LVL 80 CAP.

Unlike FO3 where you complete part of the main quest and get almost 2K worth of XP is given throwing you FURTHER towards next level, I think you should only be given XP per kill and other mini games so yeah hopefullly will be good, First person, BETTER VAULTS, BETTER GRAPHICS, BETTER VANILLA ENDING AND also better and MORE quests

Fallout 1 had a cap of 21. Fallout 2 had no cap, at least not that I ever reached. In Fallout 2, you felt like a god once you got above level 30 but in a way it was nice. You had taken your lumps and now you're the toughest sob in the wasteland for it. But on the other hand, it made combat pretty easy.

I could go either way.

something higher than 20, that is harder to get to.. getting maxed out that early on in the game took a lot of the fun out. what's an RPG without being able to level up!? i was so mad when i got to lvl 20, i quit playing for a few weeks!! switched back to oblivion, until i found out how to change player lvl.. definitely stretch the levels out.. as you lvl up, the amount of xp required should increase drastically. it felt like more or less the same throughout. i also liked how in oblivion, the skills you used most received bonuses when leveling. but you still didn't have to choose them. something similar to that would be nice. and would make sense if they're going for a leveling system that creates specialists rather than demigods. i dunno... something that makes it to where you don't reach the maximum level before getting halfway through the game..

I would like it to be maybe about 35-ish. It would be a bit hard to level up 5 levels at that point in a single DLC.

A cap is necessary - otherwise players become super-heros and that defeats the point of the game.

What level they cap at very much depends on how the game balances out. I think they should wait on deciding this until after the product is finished and QA is done, then have an assessment of the difficulty at different levels and choose a reasonable cap.

I think the cap of 30 in Fallout 3 was fine, with the amount of skills and perks you could have, but it should take longer (Much more xp, like double) to level up.

Slow leveling is only good with games that limit all the filler or random combat. You shouldnt have to kill thousands to become a great warrior.

Personally I like the prestige model for level caps where you can continue to improve mental stuff and skills but hp and damage doesnt improve.

A level cap is necessary for RPG elements and to not break the game and kill the RPG elements.

Cap of 20 is fine, making those levels balanced and good to replay. Ideally, when you hit level 20 you'd still not be superman, some of the tougher enemies should be a real handful still. Fallout 3 was pretty unbalanced to begin with but when they raised the cap to 30 it was completely haywire. Some of the perks introduced were extremely silly.
