Housing in Vegas?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:56 am

Is it already known if there will be housing possibilities in Fallout New Vegas?
Was Fallout 3 the first Fallout with this feature or can it also be done in the
first two games? I've never played Fallout 1 and 2 but I'm going to play those
soon!

While it wasn't really a design feature in the originals, it was quite easy to move in and take a place over.
Housing seems to be one of the greatest pass times with the Gamebryo engine so I expect it. I'll be building as soon as I can.

We don't know, but probably.

Don't think you can do it in the first two.

We know there will be housing, the true question is what type, will it cost money for different type of housing. Fallout 3 you could only have one house, can we own more then one house now. Will there be a decorating software(find a tv take it and a system can help place it somewhere). Will there be a theme to each house or can you buy a theme(50's/Classic/Modern). Will we have to buy a set theme to get objects or can we buy things for the house separatly(if you want a computer you don't have to buy a theme but the computer)
Shack cost 100 caps
Regular cost 500 caps
Giant cost 1000 caps
Vault Apartment 1500 caps
Penthouse on one of the skyscraqers cost 2000 caps.

You should make this a poll.... Well, personally, housing was one of my absolute favorite features of FO3 and would be very happy to see it again. I would also like to see quests for different houses that you could buy in NV. Perhaps have a system like Oblivion but more customizable decorations and with quests, scavenged things, and/or caps for the houses?

What I hope for is that the themes won't be loaded with trash like Brahmin Skulls and 1000 coffee mugs you have to take out first.

Hate to break it to you, but all that stuff will eventually re-appear.

There has been the ability to live somewhere since the first game, but only in the simplest sense- You could find a building with storage, a bed, and other amenities, but you got no bonus resting in there over resting outside. The only "house-like" place I can remember is the BOS office in SanFran,Which was your personnel property, with enough beds for every follower, a medical computer, a kitchen, and a storage room. I think there was also a bathroom, but I am not sure. I would LOVE houses like that in new vegas!

A house out in some small oasis i the desert or in the country would be nice.... I don't like not having scenery or a balcony... definitely more than one room houses would be pleasant.

i always imagined having certain houses you could rent instead of buy would be a cool option..... would help the Role Playing element and mean you wouldnt have to wait to save a massive sum up :)

I like the idea of living in a shack in the middle of no where than being forced to live in towns with their slimey residents. Some of my favorite mods are the shack and house mods. Also in fallout 2 I used the building, in the den, a gang used be in before they went to to guard Metzgar church after a huge gang brawl. Forgot the name of the group but they end up leaving a building and I used that as a house for a while along with the san fran BOS bunker.

The housing system was great in FO3 but maybe a little limited. I didn't like how you could only have a house either in megaton or in tenpenny tower, FONV should allow players to build there house where they want it in the game wether it be somewhere in the mojave desert or in new vegas itself just an idea.

yeah that would be cool and then at one point if you don't pay your rent the landlord might send some "escorts" to help you leave the area but if you refuse you have to fight them or something.
