Read and Decide: What is New Vegas's currency?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:44 am

Soooo...the other poll didn't give the option of chips, and it was getting pretty big. Take the time to read what others have to say about the currencies before voting

EDIT: no one seems to be adding anything, and I want to remain neutral for the time being. Look for the other forum topic

Here's my estimate.

55% chance we get bottle caps
40% chance we get chips
1% chance we get gold
4% chance we get something completely unpredictable that may or may not make any sense at all.

Also, "inb4lock"

Vegas? There'll be chips everywhere. Literally. So I vote chips.

EDIT: I found that so many bottlecaps in one area (FO3) was very unrealistic. I understand Nuka-Cola was popular, but it couldn't have produced that many bottles from a single factory.

2nd EDIT Gold? I don't even have to explain.

I thought Las Vegas in the 1950s was full of drugs and crime and barely any casinos?

Even if las vegas was filled with drug addictsim the 1950s, there would be some increase in size and gambling in the 120 years leading up to the nuclear war.

I don't like bottlecaps because counting them would be tedious, hauling them would be heavy and they aren't in small enough denominations.

Gold is also difficult to count, because exact scales are hard to come by, as well as the gold itself.

Chips, however, come in 10s, 50s, 100s and even 500s, can't be counterfeited, and confine the player to the city/explain the invisible wall

A DLC could make an exchange post for travelers, or maybe the destinations (like reno) might still accept the currency.

The casinos helped to midwife in the drugs and the crime. There wasn't anything there before the mob started building.

There's already a thread to discuss the currency. http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1075617

Yeah, even though it doesn't have a poll-option for Chips; you can still discuss the suggestion or possible use for Poker Chips as a potential currency for F:NV :)
