Stop deleting threads!

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:17 pm

AAAAAAAHHHHHH !!!

Damnit Bethesda, would you please stop deleting threads after X number of posts, it's annoying as hell. Every time I bookmark a thread on these forums and want to see it a few months later it's gone. Every other forum on the internet keeps its threads so that you can always go back and search the older entries.

Don't tell me it's a technical limitation, I've seen mod forums that manage to keep their threads for longer.

Just please, pretty please with knobs on, stop deleting threads once they have a certain number of posts in them. It serves no purpose and only annoys people if they want to go through some of the older entries.

We prune threads every so often as we are a very busy forum and for times when there are a high traffic it assists in keeping the load on the server to a level which does not slow it down or crash it. If you have suggestions however, feel free to contact admin with your suggestions.

And if it is a thread you want to keep, archive it. :)

General rule of the internet is "If you like it, save it." You never know when something will not be there tomorrow...why, I've actually stopped using YouTube for anything serious because every month I find out 10% of my bookmarks (and that's a lot considering how many I have) have been removed, muted, deleted, or otherwise gone.

Just to clarify, we don't "delete" threads at 200 posts - we lock them. Therefore, since they will not get further activity, they drop down in the forums, to eventually be pruned, as summer explained. :)

So I think this discussion has been wrapped up - question answered, advice to archive threads you like given... :)
