Is there some special trick to get voice files to work?

So I'm working on a mod at the moment that allows the player to re-recruit Dean Domino and Follows-Chalk after their respective DLCs are finished. It's mostly just for my own personal use, but if it works out, I might release it!

Anyhoo, I'm having some trouble getting Dean's dialogue to work properly. His dialogue is made up of stuff he actually says in Dead Money, and I've made copies of his voice and lip-sync files with the correct filenames and folders to go along with it. The idea is that he'll be fully voiced, a bit like my favourite New Vegas mod ever, http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37376#fileanchor (which is where I got the idea from!).

Anyway, for some reason, the voice and lip-sync doesn't work. The text appears on the screen, but it's completely silent. As far as I understand these things, the GECK creates a filename for the voices to use, and all I should have to do is "record" these files and give them the right names and put them in the right folder.

Is there something that I'm missing?
