Is Rage a Sandbox Game?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:18 am

I possibly might just be missing something, but is Rage going to be a Sandbox Game. From the look of the games that they have made in the past, it defiantly could be. But is it. Since driving is a big part of the game that is a nod to Free Roaming ,but hey just asking.
Thanks for the info.

It will be an open world with not just a MQ, but side quests as well. I am sure you could spend a lot of time driving around in it, cars arent reportedly a big part of the MQ.

O.K. thanks for the info. One more thing have they released the time it will take to complete the game? Now I'm talking about a normal playthru with a few ''quests'' not every single Achievement, 100% the Game all that stuff. Just a normal play thru.

I have a question myself, will you be able to free roam after the campaign is beaten? That is always a big factor for me between buying or renting a game like this.

Looks to be a large rail shooter. It does not appear to be a sandbox game.

I'm sure the engine will kill and the graphics will be great. I kinda doubt the game it's self will be wonderful.

We have had very some good games since id produced Doom3 and Quake4, well id and Raven. Those games although fun were not at the level of Stalker or even Fallout 3 and NV in openness and involvement in the world.

A real sandbox allows many different ways of approaching a problem. For instance; my favorite weapon in NV is a big horn sheep. I don't think the developers intended this. ;) In a Stalker game you can do it any way you want. Some ways will make the endings a bit lame but that's because you missed important points. I doubt that will be possible in Rage. You will have to complete each section before advancing to the next. A rail shooter.

I do think "open world" is a better discription, and what Id is going with.

You wont nevessarily have to do each part before going tot he next, as there will be many sidewuests, which will allow you to complete different tasks that in the end contribute to the greater progress of the game. The main levels may be chronological, but i do recall hearing that you will have different ways to go about getting throught hem.
