I have recruited ED-E and Boone. I tell them both to wait at Harpers shack (my homebase). They both stay there when I leave, but I can not get any of the other companions to follow me because they say I already have ED-E following me. Any resolution? I can not reload after 10 hours of game play.

in order to change followers you have to talk to the follower you want to change and tell them it is time to part ways...then you can pick up the next follower you want to follow you.......if you want a previous follwer back you have to go back to where you first met them (i.e. ed-e in primm) and get him to follow you again.

As the poster above said, you have to get rid of them first. Also, if you've been on the Strip and talked to Mr. House, you should also be able to send companions to the Lucky 38 (I haven't tried to see how many you can send there, if you can maybe send them all there, I had Raul and Veronica there at the same time so I assume you can send everyone there if you'd like, collect them like Snowglobes).

You can have two companions at the same time. One can be humanoid and the other can be the dog or EDE.

I have all of the companions hanging out @ the lucky 38. Just use who ever you need then send them back there.
