Most people seem to link the data corrupting DLC error to the Come Fly With Me quest. I got this error from Vault 3.

I have not even started or initiated the Come Fly With Me quest yet. And I have no DLC installed, besides the first (and so far only) patch.

I tested it and the error seems to start happening after I enter into the second section of Vault 3. It's ok if I go into Vault 3 first section and move about and try saving and loading there....but if I go into a further section that requires the load screen then the autosave data it creates and any manual saves made past that point are instantly corrupted.

I have heard some people refrence this place as a DLC error affected area but most seem to pin it on the Come Fly With Me quest. Is Vault 3 part of the Come Fly With Me quest?

As far as I know, Vault 3 has nothing to do with the Come Fly With Me quest. It is the vault where the Fiends have taken over and killed all the vault dwellers.

For me this DLC error occured when i returned to vault 19 (the one with the powder gangers) after killing them all. I was doing this for a unmarked quest on the strip where you have to gather vault suits for sarah. This is pissing me off and makes me not want to play this otherwise awesome game! This was after hours of catching up on lost time (20 hours) saving in new slots all the time to figure out what caused it the first time. This was way after come fly with me by like 50 hours or something so im not sure whats cuasing this problem but it ruins the entire game!

i've just avoided all of them so far..

My girlfriend has been through Vault 3 twice now, and neither time did she get the DLC error (I went through it once as well). Nor did we get it during the "Come Fly With Me" quest. For those who are getting it (again, not everyone), it's probably got numerous trigger points, not all of which will affect each person in the same way (if at all).

not that important if you don;t get shot...VERY important if you DO get shot..

I'm curious. I have been keeping several save files, 5 to be exact, and rotating them out. I also load every other save to make sure it has not been corrupted. But what I was curious about is if after receiving a corrupted auto save it would be possible to just delete the autosave before creating any more hard saves, then save a hard save and load that to see if it is corrupted. Perhaps it is the existence of the corrupted auto save that corrupts subsequent saves. I haven't had any corrupt save issues yet, but I will try this when I inevitably do.

I was doing exactly the same as you and it still happened to me, I had only been in Vault 34 and it didn't happen til quite a long time after that, about 8 hours (sadly real life time and not in-game!!!)

I think its got something to do with Motor-Runner's (Fiend leader) helmet that you can scavenge off him when you kill him. Was for me anyway, soon as i picked it up and tried a save it would do the DLC thingy. Luckily had a save just before that and didnt touch his hat and it worked. Tried picking it up a few times to make sure and got the DLC thingy everytime.

LOL if what ur saying is true then i may have just dodged a bullet. i killed moto(vault 3) - head and done come fly with me and nothing happend. but when i went and took the stuff from the vault to fix the air filrtation unit for the brotherhood. i think i get it now if you take the special items from the vault and thier no longer in your inventory then game says DLC items are missing because thier quest essitial which means they would have to be in you inventory but if you remove them it might cause the glitch. A therory. Im gonna do some testing luckly for my only working save is just right befor i entered the vault lol i wasnt wanting to risk until the patch but i will see what i can find out. peace.
