i really just want to get out of there,but i need to find the clues and protect pres.kimbell or something of that nature

I didn't find any clues that gave a quest update, but if you talk to the girl on the floor right above grant she will say her engineer friend is missing.

but all of the doors are locked and grant is gone

i havent been able to play fallout for days,can someone tell me if this is a bug or if i can actually do something?
