Trying to run this one my laptop which has windows 7 64 bit and I get this error when I attempt to start fallout new vegas

"this version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 32bit or x64 64bit version of the program and then contact the software publisher error"

this makes no sense sense it works fine on my desktop with windows xp. I cannot find anyone else with an issue like this. Fallout 3 works fine. Help?

Should work just fine on Win7 64 bit. At least mine does. No real issues aside from the occasonal crash now that they have the quick save fixed.
