A wanderer named Jackie keeps coming up to me in Nipton thanking me for killing some guy who was going after her for her star caps. I have reloaded my save 6 different times and each time I have yet to actually have to kill the guy she is thanking me for killing. Is this a glitch or just another example of the poor quality this game seems to excel at? She's easy enough to kill when she turns on me trying to get my caps, but it would be nice to actually get to kill someone I'm being thanked for killing...

Are you sure she's thanking you for killing someone?

She's from a random encounter and there is no second party you ever see; you will just hear gun shots then she runs out and asks if you saw the fight.

Misconception. Her name is Jacklyn. She has an encounter with an NPC named Tomas. Jacklyn cozied up to Tomas and later ambushed him to get his necklace of star bottle caps. You can miss the entire encounter. They spawn when you get even relatively close to Nipton and immediately fight to the death.

The first time she came up to me I was inside a house so it threw me for a loop to start with. I had no idea what she was going on about. From the dialog options that I had it seemed to me like I killed the guy to save her. The last few times I tired it, I actually hear the gun fight but never seem to be able to it see it happen. maybe I'm reading into it to much....

I've never had Jacklyn talk to me, Tomas has always been the one to win the fight.
