Avoiding Reputation Loss

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:21 am

Having logged 50 something hours into F:NV already, I decided to dedicate a few hours to testing how the reputation system works, and how to use it to my advantage.

Testing on the PC Steam version, latest patch as of Oct.24

You will not lose reputation if you:

- Stealth kill (one shot, silent weapon) a member of a faction without being seen.
- Stealth kill (one shot, loud weapon) a member of a faction without being seen.
- Initiate combat while [Hidden] against small groups belonging to a faction.
- Initiate combat while disguised as an enemy faction. (Ex: Attacking Legion members while wearing NCR armor)
- Use nonlethal weapons to knock faction members unconscious.

You will lose reputation if you:

- Stealth kill a member of a faction while [Detected] by -anyone-. (Ex: Sniping a Legion Recruit while being detected by an NCR prisoner)
- Initiate combat while disguised as the faction you are attacking.

I'll add more as I test more, feel free to confirm/dispute these tactics. They've all worked for me.
