if we xbox 360 people cant mod...

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:17 am

give us cheats at least. go all out like grand theft auto: san andreaus, really give us all you can, cuz after you beat the game, sometimes you just wana mess around, amiright?

possible cheats: (to be inputted through a simple method that saves codes for future use so you can easily activate and deactivate codes)

weapons(either in sets[pleasegodno] or individuation cheats for each wep)
follower gain cheats
money/ammo cheats
items
fun cheats like i dono, big heads an stuff
karma gain/loss

i know ill get some "omg no wtf are you thinking"s but honestly why not. you dont have to use them and we xboxers cant mod, so if your buying the px version and your about to complain about cheats, just dont lol.

how exstactly do you intend to input cheat for every items in the game......a better way is to just give you access to the testing halls where all the stuff is.

There is a chance for this as bethesda arent making the game (bethesda never give any cheats) ... i still doubt it though.

Maybe give us a limited version of the console command.
I'd love for some creative cheats and not just same ol' unlimited ammo, fallout3 god-mode and 0 gravity.

Better than cheats might be an actual call modders to submit their mods to a contest and let the fans pick the top ten (console friendly) mods. The winning modders get  something... and the Console players get an official new DLC.

Now there is more to this than just that of course... I don't know about content releases, but I'd assume there is a hefty fee involved, and some Q&A... but if that could be worked out to be worth doing, console players could have the top ten PC mods (excluding FOOK & FOSE). Not too long ago I remember that Bungie released a three disc bundle of their game Myth, Myth 2, and a disc of the top fan favorite mods as a commercial product called "The Total Codex"; So this has been somewhat done before by other companies.

Now there's any idea. I think that would be alot of fun for modders and console players alike.

I'm not really into the "just put in cheats idea" What I'm really interested in is manipulating the actual game play elements.

I highly doubt any modding capacity will be included, I'm pretty sure this has been confirmed.

Also say that developers did do this, how would it implemented within the limitations of a console?

I think it likely has to do with the "iron fist" approval of all things on the console that Xbox and PS3 are subject to by their respective creators.

I have to say NO to cheats, I've never used them and never wanted them in any game, the only cheat I've ever used was the Show Map on Doom (PS1) apart from that I don't need them or want them. Just get yourself a PC if you want to get MODS and stuff, just save up for it :)

Again, I thought Microsoft didn't allow mods to be released on the 360 because of some reason.

I think if it were to happen at all (even once), it would have to be released as a commercial product as far as the console makers are concerned (whether or not Obsidian charges for it).

+1 I like this idea too, nice one! :goodjob:

I also don't see any reason why console users can't have console (or a limited version of it). It would be the same as putting formal cheats into the game, which at least would be Something for them as compared to modders on the PC. It could allow things like loading objects, teleporting, god mode, setting essential flags, etc - all the stuff they would need to cheat. It would also allow console users to overcome some of the bugs, as with Fo3 and MotherShip Zeta - a PC user didn't need to be stuck behind any door, we can go right through them. Its not Just cheats, and would make alot of peeps happy.

Either way, I see real benefits to adding user-created mods if they are good enough - free material for the publishers! Then again, maybe we just svck too-much to be considered seriously. :)

The only way I'd agree to any console based cheats is if the attainment trophies/achievements was disabled after the cheat(s) are triggered like in GTA IV. That way you can cheat to let off some steam, but you are deterred from saving the game after using the cheat since you cannot pursue trophies and achievements anymore and it maintains the integrity of actually getting the trophies/achievements because you know you have done so without relying on the hard coded cheats.

I remember spending hours in GTA San Andreas and spawning the harrier jet or jet pack turning on infinite ammo and max health (or sometimes even god mode) and just wreaking havoc on the city. Or in GTA Vice City, taking the tank, turning on the "gliding car" and "cars can drive on water" cheats and firing the main gun backwards for recoil "thrust" to fly the tank across the city... =p

And what if a bug in a quest stops you from advancing? What if said bug is game breaking? With a "cheat" console, it would be possible to "fix" it by advancing the quest or similar. On a side note ... no one is forcing you to use the "cheat" console, so you do not lose anything by it being there.

A skip level cheat? Epic! But I personally want a cheat that spawns a random weapon but only three times. It has a little luck involved which fits perfectly with Vegas.

I would rather just get modded game saves, modding ON an xbox is hard. Just go to game-tuts.com

Bethesda (Or Obsidian/microsoft.Sony) wouldn't do it for free. Anything ported over has to be extensively tested by Bethesda's QA department and thats after all the work in reviewing, selecting, porting, and that kind of work can be expensive and time consuming.

They'd have to recoup the money somewhere.

Yep, not to mention supporting it. They need to QA really well or risk people complaining about a broken game and corrupted saves from bugs in mods. PC users are on their own when it comes to breaking their games with mods, but I doubt they'd be able to get away with that on consoles.

We don't allow discussion of modding on Xbox as it is against the EULA for the Xbox.
