About Criticals....

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:38 am

So, as watching a few gameplay videos for F:NV, everything looks sweet. One thing that bugged me though was how whenever you hit a critical on someone, the camera would be on them as if in VAT's mode, slow down time, and watch them die slowly. I mean, it looked pretty cool at first, but I would easily get annoyed. Having to slow down my gametime to watch slow death after death after death... I mean, I get it, I hit a critical.

Anyone know if this is an option? I'd turn it off right away. If it was here to stay... If I planted C4's on 20 people with 10 luck (I believe it effects criticals right? Correct me if I am wrong.)

You can turn it off, and it isn't because of criticals as far as I know, it's only when you killed the last enemy around you.

It may be an option, seems like it would be.

Luck affects criticals and raises all of your other S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats as well.

^This^ You can turn of the cinematic killcam. I think I know which video you are talking about. The reason the killcam showed for both of those guys was because the second one didn't engage the PC until after the first one was dead.

Can anyone explain in detail how luck influences your other skills? Other than increasing critical hit chance, I never really understood how it would effect the other S.P.E.C.I.A.Ls

Luck affects criticals and increases the chance of random events happening.....

You can not only turn off cinematic kills, but turn of VATS slowmo in any way. Really nice feature, me thinks.

Do you have an example? Do you mean calculations like damage output? Would it affect an enemies ability to hit you ? Thanks, much appreciated.

In fallout 3 luck improved ALL of your skills by small percentage, it also improved critical chance, random encounters, so it will most likely be the same for NV. And now we're gonna have gambling, so it will definitely affect your chance on winning there. Correct me if I'm wrong though... :vaultboy:

beat me to it, every skill had a multiplier determined by luck thus raising all your skills although by a very small amount

Ok thanks guys for the luck explanation. So assuming it affects other skills as it effects critical chance those values are prob pretty small right?

Stat Value x 1.15 for 5 luck

State value x1.16 for 6 luck

i dont know the values I'm just guessing.

Hopefully it affects dice rolls a little more :)

Fallout 3 Luck:
-Increased critical strike chance by 1% per level.
-Increased every skill by 0.5 per level (rounded up so 5 Luck would be +3 to all skills and 10 Luck would be +5 to all skills)
-It also influences whether you will get a good or bad random encounter.

In New Vegas it will probably do the above. Its been confirmed that the Luck stat does improve your chances of winning in the Casino. I just hope that the Luck stat isnt going to have a massive influence on gambling.
