Steam Running On Its Own

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:02 am

The last three days in a row, I have logged into my computer in the morning to find Steam up and running on its own. The first time I tought maybe I just left it running when I closed the game before going to bed. The last two nights I have made sure I completely signed out of Steam before logging off and yet I get up in the moring to find steam running again. I have the start when computer boots disabled so i lknow its not that. I am the only one in the house who knows my password for my user, and my wife does not play fallout. So how or why is steam already running when I log in every moring?

This happens sometimes. If you click 'Steam' in the top left corner, then go to settings>interface, you can uncheck a box that starts Steam automatically, as well as those pop ups you get when starting it up.

Someone please remind me again how Steam is such a good thing..... #$%&! this. Between Steam, the bugs, broken quests, and fubar dialog, I am about ready to throw this game in the yard sale bin with Fallout Tactics!

This happens all the time, actually. By default, the option to automatically start up with Windows is enabled. It's easy enough to turn off, and TBH it's nothing new. Just be glad there IS an option. You could also tell it to not save your password if you're really that paranoid.
