Barter

In FO 1&2 you could barter with almost anyone you talked to I like this it felt like you had to trade to survive do you think this will be brought back?

I was thinking in hardcoe mode this would be handy so i woulndt have to kill some guy for his food or water

well to be frank the barter option was there, but outside the traders 95% had jack squat.

As for F:NV, I think they will stick to the random spawned dedicated traders like in Fallout 3.

well that′s what those random trader encounters are for.

Plus if you can′t think ahead with your food and water that′s your problem, a bit cheap just solving it by finding a random stranger who somehow trust you enough to sell ya stuff in the middle of the wasteland

I did like the random traders you ran into in the orginals but if you were to far in the wrong karma they wouldnt sell to you

What did you do if they said you were too good blow all their heads off to prove em wrong?

But they were pretty well gaurded unlike in FO 3 where you could kill a caravan but then that ones gone for good

So i just think its a good idea and it was always kool when your talking too someone important and could trade usally they had the good stuff

well that′s the thing with ideas, often they sound cool on paper, but once ya try and realise it it simply doesn′t come out as cool as it was on paper.

well that′s a opinion, your opinion.

I for example never used it because well they never did have anything useful, the few trader random encounters and different town vendors where 10 better to go too.

Anyways i think it makes perfect sense if you were to come across a little encampment of a few wastelanders and instead of murdering them(if you're trying to be good)for they're supplies you could trade/barter a little and be on you're way.

And i'm assuming when you see someone in the wastes who doesn't immediatly start shooting at you or try to kill you, you can trust them enough to sell em' some crap you don't need lol.

a good wastelanded should only trust a guy they have a clear shot for.

still think it′s just a waste of data adding a random trading system to everyone in the waste. If Beth thought a few random traders out in the waste was good enough, there must have been a reason behind it.

Yeah but that's not entirely what you're doing, it seems to me for everything you said was more like how YOU'RE right and he's wrong, almost like you were trying to make him feel stupid for what he said.

Chill out and don't be so negative Mr. dictator lol

I think there should be a dialog option like, " [Thirst] Give me that water. *pulls out magnum* Now. :gun:

That might be a good idea. Perhaps NPCs could understand thirst and sell at a discount, or give you heavily irradiated water for free? Either way, I anticipate lots of killing people for water out there in the Wastes.

Bullets=Liquid.*

*This is actually Axiom #6.

I don't really care about trading with people. Most NPCs wouldn't have any extra equipment to sell anyways. Merchants are the ones that sell the equipment to them too so if anything, you would get it in worse condition at a huge markup.

What about the Scavenger NPCs? Would you count them as traders? Besides, If you're cool with Neutral Karma/are desperate, then you could just kill them and take whatever it was you wanted. Water will be a hot commodity, after all.

I think barter is one of the most under used skills and deserves a buff. I think it would be great if a high barter skills allowed you to trade with people who aren't usually traders.

Maybe have some people have unique items that can be purchased like this. Gives you an alternative way to get these rare items.
