How soon after release will a GECK for FO: NV come out?

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 8:07 pm

I wasn't around for the release of Fallout 3 so I don't know how long after its release Bethesda released the GECK for it. Any guess how long after release of NV will the GECK come out? I'm looking forward to playing around with some new kits and resources.

It was said in one of the interviews that the GECK will be released on the same day as the game, very likely it will come on the disc. I also heard a moderator GECKulate that if it doesn't come packaged with the game, then history indicates that it will be 1-2 weeks after the game's release.

Cheers,

YES! That's what I was hoping for! :celebration: :foodndrink:

One other question is do you think all of the resources from Fallout 3 will still be in there even if not actually used in FO:NV? It would be awesome if they are!

It is unknown the exact release date for the NV GECK, however if it is not on the disk, or part of the game install, then it will be availible for download. The downloads in the past have been on release day, before release day and for one game, about two weeks later.

I would imagine it will be out at release or close to it.

As for the resources, it is unknown at this time what resources are being brought over from FO3. I would imagine it would be all of them, but disk space issues may preclude that.

So, you will have to wait and see.

I have studied this as carefully as possible in watching the trailers and making notes of every model that I know is also in Fo3. So far I have over 120 items, and have identified the OffHall and FacHall kits as well. What is Unknown (and I have not seen any models from them in the trailers) are the assets from the Fallout3 DLCs, and whether any of those will get imported. I'm very much hoping so as that will make converting mods from Fallout3 to FNV much easier, and will make alot of the peeps (like me) Very very happy. But I will be more than happy with just the Fallout3.ESM assets too, it was a brilliant move on Obsidian/Bethesda's part to re-use common assets IMHO.

As you say though, we'll see!

Wasn't FO3's like a month or two after release? With the fanbase having no idea if a CS would actually come or not until it was actually RELz'd?

Well, we know some of the DLC weapons are making the jump - I've seen a http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=4329 with a gauss rifle and APA1 that looks like it's been turned into a tesla suit (armor mods?) and there's obviously the Brotherhood troops with tribeams that we saw in the Brotherhood video. I've also heard tell of someone spotting a heavy incinerator in another video somewhere.

Uggggh.... they re-used the Jack-In-The-Gauss. Was hoping for one that didn't look absolutely silly.

It was released 10-28-2008 as a download which is the same day FO3 was released.

Yeah the links to it were posted in very short order, alot of peeps were waiting for it. I recall on Dec 18th the modders in the forum were hacking around and getting Some things to work, but the GECK started-off alot of mods that Dec. :)

Yeah, it is pretty annoying. On the other hand, I'm happy we've got any gauss rifle at all. I'm sure they'll make a mod to have it use 2mm EC like it should. Plus, it's not like it can be that hard to just erase that crank from the mesh.

Now I just need to see the YK-## family of pulse weapons show up, and some sort of .50 cal HMG, and I'll be very pleased on the weapons front.

What? That's not what I remember. I remember not getting it until later. In fact, the very first mods were extremely simple ones done with FO3Edit precisely because we didn't have access to the GECK.

Indeed. The GECK was released in December. I remember that I waited until we got confirmation that the GECK was up for download before buying the game, and that was in December.
All mods that got released after the game's release were modded via FO3Edit.

Now that I have confirmation that the GECK will be released, I'll be able to purchase the game on the release day. :D
