Beat the game on hardcoe mode and...

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 8:23 pm

Nothing! No achievement, no whatever else may be.

At no point since I started playing were any of the settings adjusted (for difficulty or hardcoe mode), and the main story was complete (won't post details since this isn't a spoiler thread). Any ideas on what I could have possibly done wrong, or is this achievement not quite working atm?

I've seen it mentioned that if you enter the console at any time during game play it'll lock you out of achievements.

Well that's frustrating. I've fat fingered the ~ key once or twice while going for Tab - didn't realize it could screw up my game though. You think they would add a warning for that kinda stuff.

i have not completed the game yet... lack of motivation due to the issues this game is giving me

(i know this is a double post but...)

FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS : WINDOWS 7 : RESOLUTION400003359

Q: The game is not awarding Steam Achievements after console use.

A: If the player opens the debug console by pressing the '`' key and enters console commands that affect the player character (ex: rewarding experience or modifying S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats), Achievements will be disabled for the play session. To enable Steam Achievements, restart your play session and avoid using the console.

I do not think the console disables the achievements. I use it to disable NPC emotions several times and all the time to save my game (I prefer named saves to the dumbed down auto-name thing). I have seen other's that use it for cheating and still get achievements.

I personally don't care for the achievements. I think it to be a sheeple "look at what I can do with my powerful gamer thumbs of incompatibility" thing... but whatever.

If that's the case, then that's definitely not my problem. I never used the console to enter a command, just fat fingered it and closed it. I have a save right before the end of the game (literally, 5 seconds after you load it, the game ends), and I've also restarted it at that point after rebooting just to check on an off chance. Still no go.

Even though I know it's superfluous fluff, I still want the achievement and whatever else comes with it (if anything comes with it).

Now that's what I am interested in. I thought it was just a achievement but they have said you get a "item" for doing it. I would think this means something other than a achievement...

If someone got it, please post in spoilers as I don't want it ruined for me. Thanks :D

I got near the end but stopped and restarted a new character so I could enjoy the game more before killing it, explore etc now that I have my bugs tamed for the most part.

I dont think that the console locks out achievements. I think its just that achievement registering is bugged like many other things. Completing the game without having to fix some screw up with the console would certainly be worthy of an achievement.

Played through it again and got the achievement this time. Still no clue what screwed it up the first. If you're interested in what else comes with it, pm me.

Woah, woah. I really hope using the console to fix bugged out NPCs isn't whats kept me from getting my hardcoe Mode achievement. Because that'd REALLY tick me off.

Anything confirmed/denied for this?

If you accidentally hit the ~ key, save and quit, then start and reload the save, clears the flag for no achievements.
