Ending videos CTD (and rant)

I am so fustrated with this game. I pre-ordered off steam, and began playing and from the get go it has been full of bugs and glitches. I'm used to a certain amount of instability having played both fallout3 and oblivion heavily modded. Niether vanilla versions of those games were this unstable.

So after forty or so hours of gameplay I finish the mainline quest and sit back to watch the ending sequence...and it crashes about a minute in. I grit my teeth and reload, and it happens again. I did this twice more and it always crashes in the same place, where veronica is talking about the brotherhood... so that means after two days of gaming I can't see the end sequence!

This was a great game, engaging story and the tweaks to fallout 3's rpg system and hardcoe mode were nice, but I seriosly regret pre-ordering. This was not a title that was ready to be released to the public, and I'm only going to replay when a major patch is released. I know I'm not the only one because the internet is full of people complaining just like I am. I don't know if this was rushed out, or the beta-testing wasn't done properly. But somewhere you guys clearly dropped the ball. my steam client, my fallout files, my directx, my videos drivers all up to date. No FFDshow installed, and the directx path problem adressed, all of this done before I started playing.

I understand that a huge sandbox game like this with thousands of scripts is prone to this sort of thing and I understand that you are not going to catch them all before release. But I cannot think of another game I would have sat through forty hours of this many bugs and crashes. And given the chance I'm not sure I would do it again. not being able to see the end sequence is just ludicrous.

what depresses me about all of this is you guys got my money, so any motivation on your part is half hearted to fix the problems. You don't care about my replays or my game experience as long as I bought the game. Maybe I'm wrong but thats how this game made me feel.

I have the same problem, and I have also posted on these forums recently (today) about this problem. The only thing that people said to me was to remove the "Performance.dll" (the one that you may of downloaded) and stop any mods I had. I have done both things and still nothing.

Here's a link to my post in case anything pops up there, and please do tell me if you find a workaround because as you said it is really irritating to have gotten this far with no ending to the game!

So I found removing the Nvidia d3d9 perf fix from my root directory made all the difference, so I got to watch my endings. But I have to choose between watching the endings or stuttering framerates? I can play fallout 3 on it's highest settings without a hitch, but this acts like my pc is five years out of out date? I'm glad I could see my ending videos but this soloution did not make me happy
