Who has gambled in real life in a casino?

I have, blackjack mostly, and I have to say my luck is really bad even when using the rules to increase my odds.

If you have, how is your luck?

So, Im thinking, I love gambling, but I'm going to lost all my caps in falloutnv due to this love.

Up until last year I took my annual vacation in Vegas for the last 5 or 6 years. I absolutely love casino's although I don't usually play the table games like Blackjack, Craps, Roulette etc. When I go I'm there to play Texas Hold 'em poker. I'll usually play a tournament or three, but I mostly stick to the cash games, primarily $1/$2 No Limit. I also have a fairly regular home game with a handful of very good friends that's really more about the social aspect of good friends getting together for some drinks and cards. Although we have built some VERY fat tables from time to time.

Luck you ask? Luck is why I only play poker, as it's much more about skill than luck. Sure, you'll get a bad beat sometimes when you get your money in ahead, but in the long term, if you play using solid fundamentals and really pay attention to the table you will win money. In all of my trips excluding my very first time when I was a noob poker player, I have come home with more in my bankroll than I left with. A couple of times I even paid for my entire vacation out of my winnings and still had more than I started with. (I'm not trying to brag, just saying it can be done if you're on your game!)

I've only gambled in a casino once, but I played quite a bit of poker and blackjack in the military during informal games in the barracks or in the field. Luck is a part of it, sure, but like Balok said, it is not usually the deciding factor in whether or not you walk away with more money than you sat down with. There are strategies and guidelines for best results in every game of chance, and if you follow them and don't deviate from them, even if you are losing, you can usually come out ahead. Poker especially has very little to do with luck, and is more about skill, and being aware of what possible hands the other players are likely to have. Texas Hold'em especially has a lot of strategy involved.

The important thing with gambling is knowing when to walk away. I always have some limits when I sit down at the table. First, I only bring an amount of money I am willing to completely lose all of. Second, I have a set "leave the table" winning number in my head, and once I have won that amount, I walk away, regardless if I am still winning. Using those guidelines, I can count on one hand the amount of times I have lost money gambling.

Also, it pays to be aware that the house always wins. If you play long enough, you are going to come out behind everytime, because in all the table games like Blackjack, craps, etc. the odds favor the house. Do some simple math, and you know that pushing a winning streak is foolish at those games.

And Balok, that is a sweet set-up. Beats me and my buddies' card table and folding chairs from the closet arrangement!

I have gambled here in Cincy on the boat, I like the setting itself better then the gambling. I too am a texas Hold em player, but just like the atmosphere. Casino is one of my favorite movies of all time.

I've gambled a couple times in a casino. First time I was very skeptical about throwing my money away. But I watched the blackjack dealer for a while and realized they were having awful luck, so I bought $20 in chips, and soon after walked away with $45.

Second time, I attemped to try the money eating machines and lost $60 in slots. I hate them. But was still fun hanging out there hearing money flying everywhere and seeing all the glitter.

I love the casino aura but seeing as I'm still a minor, no, I have not gambled. Hah. We spent a week in Las Vegas a few years back, and it is, without a doubt, my favorite city I've ever been to. Hopefully New Vegas will be the same way, haha.
