Vegas Tonics

I have finally released the alpha version of "Vegas Tonics" on The Elder Scrolls Nexus. It is a 'sequel' (at least in storyline) to the mod "Gene Tonics" which was for Fallout 3. Vegas Tonics is much more improved than Gene Tonics because I've made use of NV's "alchemy" system for brewing the Tonics. The mod basically adds spells to the game, for the player to cast. However, they are passed off as genetic upgrades for the player - an idea I borrowed from Bioshock and hence 'Gene Tonics.' With the mod players can gain various powers including casting the well-loved fireball to summoning Super Mutants. (This is "explained" in the mod as the creature growing from a spore - ejected from the player's body - which becomes the creature via extremely rapid mitosis)

And more crucially with Vegas Tonics, is a tutorial I have made, which gives a step by step guide for players to use the GECK and my mod to create their own Gene Tonics' effects. Simple or complicated. The tutorial is an optional file (Word Document) uploaded with the mod on the Nexus. If you do make your own tonics feel free to upload them, just give me credit for the original mod! (And besides the Vegas Tonics file is an esm so any mods made for it will require the original file).

I also, just for the sake of it, made a Facebook page for the mod: http://www.facebook.com/pages/New-Vegas-Mod-Vegas-Tonics/184581178240967 If you are a Facebook user, be sure to spread the word!
I've also made some videos demonstrating the mod in action. Take a look:

At the moment the mod is just an alpha. All the Tonics work but there is just no quests and the Vault you need to go to is bare and can only be accessed by using the console. Regardless of this you can still make your own Tonic mods.

Description

General
This mod for New Vegas is the New Vegas edition of my Gene Tonics mod for Fallout 3. It allows players to cast what are essentially spells. This includes incinerating enemies and summoning creatures.

Story
This mod continues the story of the previous Gene Tonics as players will not get to visit the mysterious Vault 70. This should be familiar to those who have played Gene Tonics.
To gain the benefit of the Gene Tonics, players will have to find Vault 70 and uncover its secrets!

Gene Tonics System

The system for using the Tonics this time has been changed from the Fallout 3 version. The mod now makes use of New Vegas? introduced alchemy system. This time players will have to find certain ingredients to make the Tonics at the Brewery. (One empty Gene Tonic bottle; an ?Omni-protein Boosta Canister? and the Schematics for the Tonics.)
Also Tonics are no longer activated by the Pip-boy light. They are taken the same way as medicines. This means they are easier to use, as the item can be hot-keyed; you don?t have to loose your Pip-boy light and there is not the cumbersome effect of having several Tonics working all at the same time.
This also introduces a new challenge for players. Instead of being able to keep casting the Tonic whenever, you will only have a supply of 10 tonics per ?brewing? and with each use you will loose 1 lot of that type of Tonic. This means that the Tonics are more like the Elder Scrolls? temporary scrolls. To make up for this, Action Points are not removed when using Tonics.
Players will be able to upgrade Gene Tonics which they have, since players can only make Gene Tonics if their Medicine skill is 25, every 25 points the same recipe will yield a more advanced version of the Gene Tonics. For example if your skill with Medicine is 50, the recipe for ?Spawn Super-Mutant? will yield a ?Spawn Nightkin? Gene Tonic.

Interesting idea, and the scientific explanation of "spells". Good luck with the mod
