Lengthing Testjoshweapons request

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:29 am

I don't know if anyonw would be willing to do this, but I simply don't have the knowledge myself of how to lengthen Josh's test weapons cell (testjoshweapons). It currently has a nice little scale on the ground and actors placed at 25', 50', 75' and 100'. That's great for testing pistols and shotguns, but I would love to have a controlled environment to test rifles out to 600'. If anyone could find it it their heart to lengthen the test cell so that the scale runs out to 200yds/600' and actors are placed every 25', but out to 200 yards I would be happy to toast you with a nice warm dark beer and generally say good things about you.

If by chance someone has already done this, or something like it, a nice nudge in the right direction would be helpful also.

PS: A container with all the weapons ala the FO3 test cell would be a nice finishing touch also.

-Greatly appreciated, Gunny

Here you go, hopefully this is what you're looking for:

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39999

I tried to set up a Nexus page for this but the Nexus was being difficult about uploading the actual file for some weird reason so I just said the heck with it and upped it to Rapidshare. A few caveats on this:

- there are some minor edge alignment issues but nothing major
- some of the extra test dummy NPCs duplicate themselves on occasion for some unknown reason
- do NOT save while in the cell, it leads to corrupt save games - do any testing on a clean save and avoid saving while in the testing cell

Not sure why you'd ever need to save while in that cell but I'm sure someone would if I didn't say not to so... yeah there it is. Don't do it, you've been warned.

I also added in 2 containers, one you requested and one you didn't: one contains all the weapons in the game and the other contains 1000 rounds of all the standard ammo so you don't have to keep hitting the console to add more while doing your testing. Both containers also respawn if you somehow manage to run thru all the ammo or break your testing implements.

How to get to the cell --> you must use the console to enter the cell as there is no normal transition from the gameworld:

coc testjoshweapons

There's no exit from the cell as well, use the console to teleport back to a standard game cell like this:

coc gsdocmitchellhouse

That's it I guess, let me know if something is wrong or if it isn't quite what you wanted and I'll see what I can do. Enjoy.

EDIT --> And of course now that I hit submit here Nexus finally decides to add the file. ::sigh::

Link changed to the Nexus page for the file.

Thank you very much. You, sir, are a scholar and a gentleman. That is unless you're female, then you're a gentlewoman? But thank you. Consider your praises sung.

The reason I needed this was I'm using real life ballistic performance to model damage and spread of all the guns. I'm not sure if I will ever release it as a mod, but you're welcome to the data if you're interested.

Heh I'm a guy but you are welcome either way. And I know why you needed the expansion as I've been reading your threads in general and back and forth with Josh with great interest. I have no experience or access to actual firearms myself so it's great to see someone who does take an interest in a rebalance effort. If you're willing to release an actual mod at some point with hard and fast numbers that would probably be a great service to the community. Cheers and happy testing.

P.S. I've added a slightly revised version of the mod you might want to try out that fixes a few small errors and adds some more useful containers.

Thank you. I'll dl the new one. It has been perfect for testing the guns. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1157050-is-the-damage-right/page__view__findpost__p__17107069. Don't think I wanna release a mod myself, but anyone is welcome to use the numbers. You get first crack, if you want. Just toast me with a warm pint, please.
