Game goes into turbo mode.

So I have this brand new benq xl2410t and it has a 120hz refresh rate wich is really great and all except for when I play FNV and go indoors.
As soon as I enter a building eveything speeds up, alot. Once inside most building I get a fps of 100-120 and as my fps goes up so does the gamespeed.

Is there anyway I can fix this? Except for lowering my monitors refresh rate to 60 and enabling vsync? I get this awful jutter when I do that wich is far worse than the speed increase in my opinion.
My monitor supports 59,60,100,110 and 120hz.

Thank you.

I don't really think the monitor can do that to the game. The refresh rate is just the rate at which the monitor refreshes the image on the screen. Honestly, the issue you present is truly confusing to me.

If im not mistaken then i think the 120hz mode is for 3d glasses, i know they use that refresh rate.
I would set my monitor to 60HZ in windows when i dont use that 3d mode.

what happens if you cap the game's frame-rate at 60 via .ini and keep your refresh rate at 120...

Hi, I tried changing iFPSClamp=0 to iFPSClamp=60 but somehow it keeps reverting back to =0.
It still says iFPSClamp=64 if I make the change to the .ini then re-open it but when I start the game and then exit, it is back at iFPSClamp=0 for some reason. I have no idea why this is happening.

I also tried downloading the "4GB Fallout New Vegas" plus the "Nvidia d3d9 perf fix" and that seemed to keep my game from speeding up inside houses but now the lip sync is way off and the fan on my gfx card is going crazy.

Yep, had the same problem with my 120hz 3d monitor with FO3 worked fine in 3d but when I tried playing in 2d everyone looked like they were high on ultra-jet. Sorry I dont have a solution for you I just switched back to my 60hz monitor.

Use V-sync at 60Hz. Keep your FPS as close to 60 as possible at all times by tweaking your settings.

This has been an issue with the Gamebryo engine for some time.

The iFPSclamp is for the micro stutter/skipping issue. (Which I suffered from myself.)

I'd also be hesitant to use the .dll fix in an unrelated note. Making use of an old version of direct x on what I'm sure is a new graphics card can have all sorts of little incompatibilities show up (IE the fans freaking out). Have you tried the just released nvidia drivers?

The new nvidia drivers smooth out the FPS but they don't fix the issue with multiple NPCs. It's much more playable with the new drivers without the fix, but the fix will still give you a significant performance boost.

Did you change the Default INI in the Root Directory or the one in My Documents/My Games/Fallout NV (or however it is treed)? Reason is the game overwrites the one in My Games from the Default. Which is bad as if you hose the default, that usually means reinstalling the game.

Anyway, make a back up of the default INI and make the changes in there.

As for the Monitor Refresh, that should not effect the games rendering, it only effects how many times a second the screen refreshes the pixels that are rendered by the card. However, if this is a PC monitor, then do set it to 60 Hz if you can for non 3D games. It might be OK at 120, but since Vsysnc is in the way, it will set your games refresh rate to the monitors refresh rate.

And, do you have the drivers for your monitor installed? Some games need that in order to be able to run the game properly.
