Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:38 am

I have some issues with New Vegas not wanting to start a new game, I click new and nothing happens. So i decided to reinstall NV, but when i did so it said 431 files missing, downloading. Why?? I have the DVD and ran the setup from the DVD. Can anyone help with this?

You may have to manually clear the local content. Someone posted a thread on how to do this on the release day, or right after but I can not find it. However the OP in that thread cleared the local content and it stopped the downloading from Steam.

However it could also be because there was a large patch that came out right after release that for some folks is 2.5 GB in size, so that could be what it is downloading. However I have not seen that on my machine (could have done it in the background for me) so I am not sure if that is the answer.

Steam seems to be really glitchy regarding the installation of this game.

I had to reinstall due to failing game HDD, it reinstalled from the DVD then at about 100MB remaining on the (approx 200MB) patch download decided to download the entire 6.7GB game rather than the remaining 100MB of patch :/

Really quite shoddy.

You could try http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1126153-i-have-to-download-the-whole-game/page__p__16539007__hl__steam%20download__fromsearch__1&#entry16539007

Thank you, that was very helpful, I deleted all the steam files and new vegas files and reinstalled from the DVD. :)
