Food for thought.

I could be totally off-base here, but do you think maybe they're delaying the patch for any other reason(s) than because they're "putting final touches on it" (with that said, I wasn't aware "final touches" took over a week!)? I already had a hunch that they'd be waiting until they released DLC to release an update fixing game-breaking bugs, but think about it more in regards to the likely timeframe of when it's going to be released: somewhere in late December.

To keep things simple, I'll divide consumers into two separate categories. In this hypothetical, the patch is assumed to already be out. Group A are any of the consumers that bought FO: NV before the patch came out. Group B are any of the consumers that bought FO: NV after the patch came out. Say someone in group A tries to keep their friend from buying NV on account of numerous bugs that keep the game from working and it works. Assuming the person in group B wanted NV badly enough, they'd more than likely buy it after hearing a patch fixing these bugs has been released from said person in group A or through some other source. This is right around *drumroll*... Christmas time! So they've made money from initial sales and then drummed up holiday sales due to people thinking that this game finally works (and this is also of DLC, not just the game). Ta-da! Consumerism at its finest. Pretty devious, really. Let me know what you guys think. Do I sound crazy?

I'm not sure there is some christmas sale conspiracy, too risky with so many other releases stealing the show there.

I believe this is a genuine case of releasing something in a hurry, and not anticipating the volume of issues causes by publishing release code long before it is ready. I also believe this was done to avoid competing with the other big titles. Not that it really makes the whole situation any better.

I'm not necessarily implying that they had this planned all along-- I'm merely wondering if they're delaying the patch for said reasons.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1144465-anybody-getting-tired-of-waiting-for-the-patch/ is already talking about how long the patch is taking. Please feel free to take this conversation over there. Thanks.
