FER - Full Explosive Recipes

NAME - FER - Full Explosives Recipies
CATEGORY - Gameplay additions
AUTHOR - Tornhelix
DATE - February 8, 2011
VERSION - 1.0

DESCRIPTION, SHORT VERSION -

This mod adds recipes for 40mm grenades (regular and incendiary), 25mm grenades (regular and high explosive), the three flavors of missiles (regular, HE, and high velocity), mini nukes (YES!), C4, and all flavors of grenades and mines. Also, I added an alternate recipe for bottlecap mines instead of changing the vanilla recipe to maintain compatibility with other mods.

DESCRIPTION, LONG VERSION -

Explosions are fun. When someone or something that is trying to kill you is caught in an explosion, aforementioned explosion is even more fun. Therefore, if you can make explosions on your own with the right know-how to conquer your enemies and impress your friends, you'll be having yourself some serious fun.

It is widely accepted that the explosive capability in vanilla Fallout New Vegas was cool and all, but lacking in several areas. Power, for one thing, and accessibility for another. There are a few mods on the Nexus that address these issues. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36208 (DENV) fixes (in my opinion) the power issue (awesome mod, btw) and a few mods have added/changed recipies for explosives, but they all add stuff that is cool and all but is too powerful/buggy/confusing/annoying.

Enter this mod. It is my first. My goal is to make a comprehensive mod for those of us who like some boom-boom with our pow-pow, but do so in a simple, straightforward way.

The other reason I decided to make this mod was that I enjoy using a mod that makes the player's Barter skill extremely potent, and explosive ammo can be very expensive to buy, and I got bored of having to make every explosives-oriented character also an amateur merchant (i.e. plop a lot of points into Barter.)

INSTALLATION -

Simply unzip the archive and put the .esp in your Data folder, along with FalloutNV.esm. Check the file in your mod manager of choice or the "data files" tab in the FNV launcher, and enjoy!

UNINSTALL -

Uncheck and delete the esp. Any created items will remain on your character.

FUTURE PLANS -

After I get the basic mod (i.e. the above recipes) to a point where I'm confident that they are balanced for gameplay (and doesn't cause game crashes or black holes to appear under your chair), I'll consider branching out to make a compatibility patch for the excellent DENV mod that I mentioned earlier. Seriously, if you play with boom-booms at all, you NEED that mod. URL at the top. I'm new to this modding thing so I'm unsure if I need the creator of DENV, Wuphon's Reach's, permission. I'm going to assume I do and ask him, should the time come. The two mods will work together as it is now, but there is no way to craft the new types of explosive ammo added in DENV as of yet.

1.1 is going to have fixes for any bugs that crop up, plus recipes for converting frag grenades and frag mines into 25mm and 40mm grenades, and a way to use frag grenades/mines to make missiles.

The irony is that making recipes is so freaking easy, anyone who is serious about getting the full explosive experience has probably made their own mod like this for their personal use (or posted it somewhere that I have overlooked).

COMPATIBILITIES -

In theory, this mod should be compatible (if redundant) with any mod that adds similar recipes. Nothing was changed, only added.

CREDITS -

Entire mod authored by me, Tornhelix, using nothing but vanilla content from Fallout New Vegas.

THANKS TO -

-All modders and mod users, for making the FNV mod community the living, breathing beast that it is.
-The staff behind the Nexus sites, for giving all modders and mod users a place to call home.
-Obsidian Entertainment and Bethesda Softworks, for reasons that should be fairly obvious.
-www.google.com, see above.
-Caffeine.
-Sleep.

Hey, I like the this.

I too made my own personal explosives overhaul mod, with increased power and added some recipes, but the recipes I made aren't as comprehensive and many as this one, I'll give this a try and prolly replace the one I have.

As it is, after I get all of the recipes I/we want/need, I think I'll be doing an overhaul to explosives in general - damage, weight, velocity, etc., as the creator of the DENV mod seems to be inactive these days, and getting his/her permission for a comp patch could be difficult if not impossible. So I could, in theory, do the same thing DENV did, but with my own numbers and whatnot, though I'll have to learn how to add new ammo types to vendor lists without messing everyone else's mods up :)

Anyway, all of that being said, this mod will probably transform into CEO - Comprehensive Explosives Overhaul, or something to that effect.

My focus now is to get the existing mod balanced, so please share any feedback you have - too many ingredients, not enough, skill requirements, yields, etc. :) Help me make a better mod!
