Archimedes II Instant Crash

So I go through the Helios Quest Nuke NCR from Helios One, Fast travel to Free-side and get the Targeting device from Max the little boy who has it.... go to fire it off at a wall of cars in free side and click..... Crash on two very different computers.... who else can never see the best weapon in the game work

Does the trait Loose Cannon also cause said problem?
