i just buyed Vegas today and downloaded Steam. now i what to play i get the error: This game is currently unavaileble. Please try again at another time. How can a game a instaled from a cd be unavaileble, and when can i finaly start to play?

A couple things to check:

1) Update the game
2) Are you located in a territory where the game has been released? If so (I assume yes) are you in a potentially unusual location for IP adress based geolocation like an overseas territory? Some people in overseas territories, protectorates, etc. have had issues because their ISP identifies their IP adresses as coming from elsewhere.
3.) Are you using some for of wireless broadband such as cellular or clearwire? Occaisionally IP adresses on such networks are misidentified as coming from a region other than the one they actually are in and sometimes return no useable location data at all.

If it's one of the second two then there isn't a fix as much as just contacting Steam and having them fix their geolocation data for you.

1) How do i update these steam games manualy? (the client is up to date)

2) I live in holland, the game is sold in the stores here. Come from holland, that should still be the mainland.

Ok then:

1) What language do you have it set to? In some locales the English version is blocked due to violence and obscenity laws (In Germany for example). Make sure the correct langauge is selected. You may need to redownload and reinstall.
2) Did you install it from the disc? If so you may have better luck if you uninstall the game and download and install through steam.
3) What version (region/language) was the copy you purchased? Was it purchased through steam or a retail copy.

When it was installed, it was allready in english. I never had a problem with violence and obscenity in my english games befor.

The instalation is from the disk, and the english version haves been buyed (it was on a cd).

Ive closed and reopend the steam window and now it seems to be re-downloading it. Is that normal?

Might have just been an issue validating the files due to busy servers. Also I'm not sure about country specific obscenity laws and how they effect Fallout New Vegas beyond the issues in Germany.

Hope the redownload works though.

Why is this offline game needing serverspace? i just whanted a nice shooter/rpg and now im allready not having fun, not being able to play thinking i just might have wasted my money on a game a cant get my money back from becauze of the code i needed to add.

Only needs server availibility for initial decrypt/activation and when downloading updates. Its initial sales have been 30% higher than even Fallout 3's were so it seems possible that the sheer number of people downloading, activating, and updating the game may be a little higher than was originally expected. Also- that 30% higher doesn't even consider people buying direct through Steam so it is likely much higher.

that re-installing didnt worked and even turning my computer off and back on didnt, this game is still unavaileble. Also i get a note from my virus scanner that the fallout file contains 3 viruses. Is this a normal thing to get when you buy a game these days?
