PS3 version as unplayable as 360 and PC?

I don't have a PS3. Just glanced at this forum and there doesn't seem to be QUITE as many problems with this version of the game. At least it seems playable. Is this true?

I have it for 360 and there is a DLC glitch where all your saves get corrupted at a certain point (happens to everyone at some point) and you have to either start over or just not play anymore. If you start over it will eventually happen again and you lose all your hard work all over again. There is currently no fix and the only official word is this,

"On consoles, we are aware that a small group of 360 users are seeing a DLC warning which is preventing you from loading save games. We are absolutely looking into this bug now, along with other reports of save game corruption. It is our highest priority right now that we find out what is causing it. In the meantime, we recommend you save often, and revert to an older save if this occurs."

When I took a glance at the PC forum I was immediately overwhelmed and had to avert my eyes there were so many complaints about various glitches and issues making the game unplayable. It appears the PC players have it even worse than us 360 players. I mean, at least we can play the beginning of the game over and over again if we choose to torture ourselves in such a way.

It seems that you PS3 players have it the best right now.

We don't get the DLC; it's 360 exclusive. On my PS3 the framerate starts chugging hard near places of interest, but its playable. I've had about 5 freezes in 35+ hours. The game is amazing. I absolutely love it. You'll get patched soon don't worry, the 360 version looks better too.

from the sounds of it, the severity of the ps3 problems are not high... however the consistancy of the minimal problems are high. the framerate is terrible and things are sticking out of walls and then occasional freezes. However, i have faith that within the weeks following that the patchwork will work and the game will be compleated. Its just a shame that the consumers have to endure this. BUT with patience we will all be happy within the next weeks.

Things get stuck in scenery because there's a thin layer texture that covers the top layer. The best way to explain that is say they created a mountain, but they add another layer on top of it because they didn't like how it looked. The reason I know this is because I got stuck walking around in a mountain and could actually see rocks and other stuff inside it. I had to reload a past save because I was stuck.

I've had so many freezes it is ridiculous. Sometimes it freezes just when I buy things. Sometimes it freezes when I'm just walking down the street. Once it froze when I was trading items to my companion. I've had freezes on the loading screen, while fighting in and out of vats, while discovering new places (as the text scrolls across the screen to tell you what you found), just walking into a room, all kinds of stuff..... Those are my biggest issues, as I've seemed to figure out workarounds for some of the other things I have experienced.

Well take solace in the fact that you can at least play. Normally I would be upset and complain about all the glitches they left in the game, but right now all I can do is sit here and read about glitches PS3 users are experiencing and dream that I was experiencing them too. Because 360 users have all those issues AND a game breaking bug that has something to do with our exclusive DLC and we can't even play.

Wow.... I never thought exclusive DLC could bite you in the butt so badly.... That's harsh.

It just goes to show the developers didn't beta test this game at all, even after they make a patch.

I played Fallout 3 GOTY Edition on the PS3 a lot, and although I did not encounter any 'game breaking glitches', it took me a long time to finish it because of its many bugs. At many points in this adventure, the frame rate in Fallout 3 could be best described as running in SPF (seconds per frame) as opposed to FPS (frames per second). Although I have been looking forward to this new game, I have not yet bought Fallout New Vegas because I had a feeling that even though Obsidian was involved, it was still gamesas's baby, and that could only lead to some major problems.

The PS3 game save files in Fallout 3 were huge compared to most modern games, and I have a feeling that these huge game save files were the major cause of many of the bugs in this game. I am going to assume that the game save files in Fallout New Vegas are similarly huge, and my opinion is the neither Obsidian or gamesas know how to code properly. I will continue to read through these forums to see if the play improves as the game is patched. If players continue to complain about erratic frame rates, buggy weapons, etc., I will not waste my hard earned money on this game.

It's sad to see that in this day of the internet, that developers release games that have not been fully tested and found to work flawlessly on every platform that they create it for. It was not like this in the early days of video games, as the ability to release/patch/patch/patch/is it fixed yet???? was not readily available. I don't actually expect for Bethesda to fix the many problems that I've been reading about on this, and many other forums, so I don't think that I will ever waste my money on this game. It seems to me that gamesas needs to hire some qualified programmers and then perform some actual Beta testing before releasing the feces that they have been putting out.
