Wild Wasteland Perk Encounters.

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:48 pm

Anyone had any interesting encounters with this perk yet?

So far I've had two. One was a skeleton in a fridge with a Suave Gamblers Hat sitting on it. Possible reference to Indiana Jones when he gets blown up while in the fridge?

My second is finding two burnt corpses next to each other. Nothing to loot from them, but they're labeled as Owen and Beru. Star Wars fans should recognize this.

I've only seen the skeleton in the fridge so far. I wouldn't have even known it was there except that some weird music played and a strange icon appeared in the corner of the screen as I approached...

XD at the Owen and Beru one. If that's the sort of thing I can look forward to, I'm very glad I picked the Wild Wastelanders perk. Time to get the wiki going, I think!

I own the CE strat guide. It claims there are 15 unique encounters with this trait. I can list them later in spoiler tags if you want.

the benefit is the drawback. and like there are items you can only get with it, there are items you can only get without it as well.

Yes, I was aware of that but I wondered if the guide shows what may or may not be there. Sort of the benefit/drawback situations.

So far, that's all I've run across. Kinda weird that some sci-fi alien-encounterish music plays when you stumble into it though.

Really glad they implemented this back into the franchise. I've encountered the fridge already, fairly early in my adventure.

My question is, are the encounters static on the map, and only available when the perk triggers them, or are they random like they were in Fallout 1 and 2?

I know, it may be too early to pose the question, and if it really bugged me I could rip open the .dat in GECK and try and find out. I was just curious if anyone else knew and could comment, thereby saving me some work.

Is there any other place where you can add this trait after you leave the Goodsprings area?

I found Johnny, I haven't played any of the other Fallouts besides 3, but he's a reference to one of the others, right?

He was at the top of a cliffside that was guarded by about 13 Geckos that I had to fight at the same time. He has four cards on a table, and four red rubber balls on the ground.

He's also dead.
