hardcoe Mode

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:58 am

I was reading in "The Vault" about a new "hardcoe" mode they're going to include in NV. hardcoe mode makes the game more realistic such as ammo weighs, you must drink water... there wasn't much about it, but IT SOUNDS ORSUM!!! It's exactly want I've always wanted! Living in a REAL (virtual) wasteland!

It should be. I just dont want all the enemies to bullet sponge, and for enemies to never be too much more powerul than the player. If they make you weak, they need to make the enemies similarily vulnerable.

Yeah I think hardcoe mode should pretty much be like real life. A bullet to the head will almost always kill you instantly, 2 in the chest and you're dead. Stims shouldn't magically heal shotgun blasts, nor should drinking a nuka cola... You should have to go see a doctor when you're crippled. Or if you possess it, use your own medical knowledge and medical equipment. Ammo should have weight. Actually, everything should have weight, even currency.

There is a point at which realism becomes unplayability. The player needs to be able to heal their own crippled limbs, with difficulty and expensive supplies, or they'll have to constantly return to the nearest town after every firefight. Headshots should be deadlier but making them one-shot-kills makes combat a crapshoot where your skills and stats are suborned entirely to luck. Currency having significant weight will simply force the player to walk backwards and forwards ferrying it when they want to buy something expensive.

This is a game, remember.

Nice ideas about stims not healing your wounds but maybe they ease the pain don't know about currency having weight though and the shots to the body and head...yea spose so.

Yeah hardcoe mode does sound sweet but we already have a couple of threads on the topic.
